Public venues such as nightclubs, pub, bars, cafes, cinemas and gyms have been told to close today and not reopen for the foreseeable by the UK government, in a bid to stop the spread COVID-19.
In today’s public briefing, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "We want you to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives," adding that "we will get through this - we will get through it together and beat this virus".

Chancellor Rishi Sunak also announced a number economic measures to protect workers’ jobs, stating that the government will pay 80 per cent wages for employees who are not working, or up to £2,500 a month.
