Isekai franchise Sword Art Online has confirmed that it's getting a completely original new film!
The news was announced at a 10th anniversary event. While a short teaser video was revealed, details on the story and release date are yet to come.
Sword Art Online began in 2002 with Reki Kawahara's web novel series, which went on to become a light novel series. The TV anime debuted in 2012, with Season 2 in 2014 and Season 3 from 2018 to 2020.
Numerous anime films have also been released, with the most recent installment being Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk, which premiered in October 2022. Furthermore, the franchise made its stage debut on November 8 with a live event that combines physical performances with the original voices from the TV anime.
