Shonen Jump Manga Too NSFW for the Mobile App

Likely due to legal terms and conditions, certain Shonen Jump titles are only available through the web version of the platform (as well as print editions). For reasons ranging from sex to violence to nudity, the following seven manga are evidently too "NSFW" for the mobile app.

Ayakashi Triangle

Ayakashi Triangle

When an exorcist ninja named Matsuri gets cursed by a cat monster or "ayakashi," he finds that he's been turned into a girl! Since the cat is unwilling to turn him back, Matsuri continues battling ayakashi as a woman and protecting his closest friend, Suzu. Suzu, who was crushing on Matsuri before, still finds herself attracted to Matsuri as a woman, which leads to all sorts of steamy situations.

This is a gender-bending ecchi action rom-com with a plot that really only exists as a feeble excuse to display some admittedly gorgeous art by Kentarou Yabuki (Black Cat, To LOVE-Ru). For fans of fan service, Ayakashi Triangle is a Weekly Shonen Jump title that will definitely scratch that itch.

Fire Punch

Fire Punch

Agni, a man with regenerative abilities, goes on a quest for revenge after a soldier named Doma burns down his village, taking Agni's sister with it. The magic flames from that day still burn on Agni's skin, but he's learned to tolerate the pain after suffering with it for several years.

This manga contains graphic violence, cannibalism, themes of incest, religious fanaticism and more controversial issues. Just like with his manga Chainsaw Man, Tatsuki Fujimoto takes Fire Punch in completely original and unexpected directions. At times, it's nearly impossible to predict where the story is going or what its major themes are, as it zig-zags between grim-and-gritty, black comedy and complete surrealism.

Golden Kamuy

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a Russo-Japanese war veteran, goes on a journey to find a hidden treasure in order to get rich so he can fulfill the wish of his best friend who was killed in action. This manga is a seinen series (published in Young Jump in Japan), so it skews toward an older audience.

There's not a lot of violence, but what is there is intense. There are brief scenes of gore that are a bit too realistic. For the most part, though, the manga doesn't have much objectionable content. In fact, it can be quite educational, down-to-earth and even funny, with great puns and charismatic characters. There's also some fan service with buff naked men, but nothing extremely graphic.

Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku

Jigokuraku

Gabimaru, a talented ninja assassin is captured on a mission and set to be executed. However, his execution is unsuccessful since he is seemingly immortal. Instead, he's given a special opportunity by the shogunate to be pardoned for his crimes. The catch? He must join an excursion to a mystical island rumored to contain the secrets of immortality.

Gabimaru, accompanied by his executioner, set out to this island to find this secret along with other death row convicts and their respective executioners. Without getting heavy into spoilers, this manga contains body horror, nudity and some brief sex scenes.

Platinum End

Platinum End

From the team that brought us Death Note and Bakuman, Platinum End is a psychological supernatural drama. It's closer to Death Note than Bakuman and lacks any sort of subtlety. The story follows a depressed middle-schooler named Mirai who is granted god-like powers after an angel saves him from committing suicide.

This eventually leads to what is essentially a battle royal in which the select humans who were granted these powers duke it out for the title of God. Of course, some of these candidates have serious problems and abuse their power, like influencing women to have sex with them or going on murdering sprees. The story is dark and has plenty of action throughout, but the first few chapters feature a lot more graphic nudity and blood than the rest of the series.

Pretty Face

Pretty Face

This is about a guy whose face is horribly disfigured in a bus accident. He survives, but after a "genius" surgeon accidentally reconstructs his face, he wakes up from a year-long coma to discover he looks like his crush. To make matters worse, everyone thinks he's dead, and before long he ends up posing as his crush, effectively taking her place since she ran away after the bus accident. This is another gender-bender romantic comedy, and while it has plenty of ecchi fanservice, it feels relatively tame compared to the aforementioned Ayakashi Triangle.

Ral Ω Grad

Ral Grad

Ral Ω Grad is a fantasy story in which demonic creatures called "Shadows" exist. Ral, a boy who has a symbiotic relationship with a shadow named Grad, is enlisted to protect his kingdom from the other shadow threats. Unlike the other ecchi titles on this list, Ral Ω Grad is an action-adventure story at heart, loosely based on the Blue Dragon video game franchise. However, it has a surprising amount of nudity, making it a bit too steamy for the Shonen Jump mobile app.
