Robert Patrick’s Wolverine Casting Will Make Fans ‘Lose It,’ Says Marvel’s Wastelanders Director

Robert Patrick's casting as Wolverine/Old Man Logan in Marvel's Wastelanders is going to make fans "lose it," director Jenny Turner Hall said.

Marvel recently announced the return of Wastelanders, an original scripted podcast that comes from Marvel Entertainment and Sirius XM. The series stars Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Peacemaker's Robert Patrick as Wolverine -- a casting decision Hall said fans are going to love. “Fans are going to lose it over Robert Patrick as Old Man Logan!" Hall said. "You cannot stop listening to his gritty timbre — he is Wolverine — and Logan’s story here will shock you to your core! From a directing standpoint, this series is epic — a lot of characters, settings, and action. I can’t wait for fans to listen to this series. I hope it’ll blow your mind, break your heart, and give you something to believe in.”

Marvel's Wastelanders: Wolverine is the fourth installment in the Wastelanders audio epic following Marvel's Wastelanders: Star-Lord, Marvel's Wastelanders: Hawkeye and Marvel's Wastelanders: Black Widow. Set in a post-apocalyptic future of 2008's Old Man Logan storyline in which super villains have won and killed off the majority of superheroes, Marvel's Wastelanders: Wolverine sees the titular Weapon X character try to take down longtime Captain America villain Red Skull, who has declared himself president of the United States.

"Since that day, a traumatized Wolverine (Robert Patrick) has wandered in a daze of survivor’s guilt and self-loathing over his failure to protect his fellow X-Men and their mutant students," the plot synopsis for Marvel's Wastelanders: Wolverine reads. "Wolverine encounters Sofia, a young mutant in-hiding and vows to transport her into the safe hands of estranged former X-Men Kitty Pryde and Rachel Summers. When Red Skull and his top lieutenant Crossbones frame Wolverine and escalate anti-mutant sentiment to dangerous new levels, our hero realizes that his only option may be to face Red Skull and his savage allies head on. But a shocking, terrible truth may destroy Wolverine first..."

The series also stars Ashlie Atkinson as Kitty Pryde, Rachel Crowl as Red Skull, Isabella Ferreira as Sofia, Jennifer Ikeda as Rachel Summers, Justin Min as Justin, Clarke Peters as Professor X, Daniel Sunjata as Cyclops and Carl Tart as Kevin. The sound design comes from Michael Odmark and Daniel Brunell, with original music by Rhett Miller and John Burdick.

Marvel's Wastelanders: Wolverine is a ten-episode series available exclusively on the SXM App and Apple Podcasts' Marvel Podcasts Unlimited. Episodes will debut on Pandora, Stitcher and all other major U.S. podcast platforms a week after they initially air. The first episode is available now.
