New Demon Slayer Attractions at Universal Studios Revealed

Three brand new attractions are headed to Universal Studios Japan later this year, all of which are based around the world and characters of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba as detailed in a recently announced collaboration.

According to Famitsu (via Siliconera), one of the three coming attractions is a virtual reality ride based off the events of the Mugen Train movie using extended reality (or XR) technology for full immersion. Another attraction will be a rollercoaster ride telling two original stories with a "more comedic element," as the ride plays commentary from Tanjiro and various other Demon Slayer characters. The third attraction will throw attendees into a training challenge themed after the Demon Slayer Corps., costing ¥1,200 (or about $10) and offering a special booklet and arm badge to all participants.

The Demon Slayer attractions are set to begin opening at Universal Studios Japan starting Sept. 17 this year, remaining open until Feb. 13, 2022. Over its six-month stay at the park, Demon Slayer will accompany the recently opened Super Nintendo World theme park. Super Nintendo World opened this past March and features a plethora of rides themed after games across the Super Mario Bros. franchise, including Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island.

Demon Slayer fans worrying about what to wear on the rides may want to browse an upcoming Demon Slayer apparel line in collaboration with UNIQLO. 16 new t-shirt designs featuring the likes of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Giyu and more will be up for grabs starting August 30 both online and in select UNIQLO stores.

The second season of Demon Slayer is scheduled to premiere sometime before the end of 2021. The first season of the anime is available for streaming on Netflix, Hulu and Funimation, while the Mugen Train movie is exclusively available on Funimation.
