Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity: Release Date, Trailer, Plot & News to Know

The Fate/Grand Order series is hugely successful, taking the Fate/Stay Night franchise and turning it into a massively profitable mobile game. Naturally, this has resulted in further expansion of the subseries, with OVAs, manga and movies being made ever since 2016. The latest of these anime film adaptations is Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity - Grand Temple of Time: Solomon. This mouthful of a title adapts the final part of the mobile game's first section.

Bringing the animated journey of Mash and Ritsuka to a seeming end, Grand Temple of Time: Solomon is the ultimate epic battle in the Fate/Grand Order story. Celebrating a huge milestone in the franchise, the film has already released in Japan. Here's what fans should know about the movie and when it's coming out in English.

The Plot of Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity - Grand Temple of Time: Solomon

Grand Temple of Time: Solomon is based on the game event of the same name, and will parallel its storylines. It follows protagonists Ritsuka and Mash as they travel to face the immensely strong Solomon, whose mastery of magecraft abilities and powers makes him a threat to the entirety of humanity. It's the culmination of their adventures so far, namely coming after the duo's defeat of Tiamat and their securing of the Holy Grail, with the battle against Solomon being the ultimate test of their heroism.

The games were first adapted into the TV anime special Fate/Grand Order: First Order, which was followed by animated shorts. The series eventually received a full anime in the form of Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia, which itself was followed by the two-part film adaptation Fate/Grand Order - Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot, comprised of Wandering; Airgetlám and Paladin: Agateram. These two movies came out earlier this year after being delayed, and are now followed up by Grand Temple of Time, though it's more of a sequel to the show.

Trailer

The trailer for the film reflects on the journey so far, with Ritsuka and Mash bracing for what's sure to be an all-out battle to the death. They think back to the people they've encountered along the way, all while a monstrous tentacled beast stands in their way in the present.

Also seen toward the trailer's end is the white-haired Solomon himself, who sits atop a throne arrogantly waiting for a worthy challenge. The tension in the trailer alone is immense, hyping up viewers to finally see how Ritsuka and Mash defend Chaldea and try to bring peace to the land once and for all.

News to Know About Grand Temple of Time: Solomon

The movie was announced last year through the Twitter account for Babylonia, where it was also revealed that the cast from the show would be reprising their roles for the film. This cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki, Rie Takahashi, Ayako Kawasami, Kenichi Suzumura, Maaya Sakamoto and Tomozaku Sugita, who voice Ritsuka, Mash, Fou, Romani, Leonardo Da Vince and Solomon, respectively. The movie's director is Toshifumi Akai, who also directed Babylonia, with Cloverworks returning to produce.

Other roles include Keita Haga and Ryo Kawasaki returning as the composers, with Prop Design and Concept Art being handled by Kota Michishita, Shiho Takeuchi and Kazuki Kota, the latter of whom worked on the NieR games.

Grand Temple of Time: Solomon's Release Date

Thankfully for fans, at least those in Japan, the film has already been released, coming out in theaters Friday July 30th. This date is also the sixth anniversary of the release of the Fate/Grand Order game. No word on a Western theatrical or streaming release has been announced yet, unfortunately, but it's only a matter of time before Grand Temple of Time is available to Fate/Grand Order fans all over the world. Funimation also handles the license for the show's English dub, so they'll likely do the same for the movie.
