Anime Arsenal: Kirito’s Most Powerful Weapons in Sword Art Online

In the Sword Art Online anime, it doesn't take long for Kirito the protagonist to really put the "sword" in Sword Art Online. From the moment he stepped into the virtual world of Aincrad, he was a dedicated master of the sword, and he only got better from there. As a serious player, Kirito has achieved some remarkable victories with his swords. He never fails to get his hands on the best digital swords, and the following are five notable weapons in his arsenal.

Elucidator

First up is a black blade to match Kirito's dark outfit: the sword known as Elucidator. He obtained this sword in Aincrad, and it's a demonic monster drop weapon that Kirito tended to use alongside Dark Repulser (more on that soon). Elucidator was used from Floor 50 onwards, and it quickly proved to be one of Kirito's most reliable weapons.

Better yet, Lisbeth the blacksmith improved its stats to the point that it outclasses anything in her shop. Kirito tested Elucidator's power by striking it against another sword, the best in Lisbeth's inventory, and watched as Elucidator shattered the other blade with ease. Kirito had this weapon in hand when he defeated The Skull Reaper on Floor 75, and he wielded it against Heathcliff, too.

Dark Repulser

Dark Repulser is another of Kirito's best weapons during his stay in Aincrad. It was often the companion of Elucidator, being a bright, pale blue sword to complement and contrast with the dark Eludicator. Kirito can thank Lisbeth for this one since she forged it herself from a crystallite ingot, and she was there with Kirito when he obtained that ingot from a dragon's nest.

Kirito wielded the heavy Dark Repulser with great skill in Aincrad, but tragically, this weapon was destroyed during his intense duel with Heathcliff, although it did serve him well against The Skull Reaper.

Holy Sword Excalibur

Holy Sword Excalibur is, of course, named after the great sword of Arthurian legend, and a handful of anime shows include it in some shape or form, including Sword Art Online. It appears in the ALfheim Online, and Kirito is the one and only bearer of this unique blade. He obtained it when he completed The Holy Sword of the Ice Palace quest, and this weapon's stats are so high, it even outstrips the mighty Demonic Sword Gram.

Unlike some of Kirito's other swords, Excalibur is a longsword, requiring two hands to wield. It's not quite as fast and agile as his other blades, but it can sure hit hard, and it was thanks to Sinon, Kirito's friend, that Kirito got his hands on it at all. He will think of her fondly every time he draws it.

Kagemitsu G4

Kagemitsu G4 might be Kirito's most unusual sword of all, partly because it resembles a lightsaber (and was designed that way), and it was used in a world where firearms were the rule. In the gunsmoke-choked digital world of Gun Gale Online, Kirito sought a sword, and he got his hands on the Kagemitsu G4. The blade's color could be chosen at will, and the weapon was notably lighter than any others that Kirito had wielded.

He could take on elite gunfighters with the Kagemitsu G4 and win, but he had to be careful: this weapon was prone to overheating and draining its battery if used for too long. And although the blade is made of photons rather than metal, Kirito could use it to slice bullets in midair and hack his way through any substance, regardless of hardness.

Blue Rose Sword

It's true that while the Blue Rose Sword was primarily used by Kirito's friend Eugeo, Kirito took a turn using it in the final fight against Quinella, the Administrator. It's a highly coveted Divine Object, and true to its name, it was made of pale blue-white ice with a blue rose on the hilt, and it eventually made its way into a dragon's cave. The dragon guarding it was eventually slain on Quinella's orders, but the sword itself wasn't taken by the Integrity Knights.

Instead, Eugeo ended up using it, and in the final fight against Quinella, Kirito wielded it with great skill and resolve until it was finally shattered in battle. As for its abilities, the Blue Rose Sword boasted incredible cutting power and sharpness, being able to hack down the Gigas Cedar with little difficulty. In addition, it could endure blows from fire-based attacks, even though in most games and anime, ice-based powers are vulnerable to fire and heat-based techniques. That's a clear testament to the Blue Rose Sword's power.
