Star Wars: Visions – Release Date, Trailer, Plot & News to Know

Disney+'s latest Star Wars project, Star Wars: Visions, promises to present the franchise as it's never been seen before. Details about the anime anthology series aren't exactly abundant, but here's everything we know about it so far.

Visions' Place in Star Wars Canon

Visions will be quite easy to get into for long-time Star Wars fans and newcomers alike. According to executive producer James Waugh, none of the episodes will fall within the existing Star Wars timeline. It's quite an interesting development because, without the constraints of adhering to existing canon, the story possibilities are literally limitless. As is expected from the anthology genre, each episode will feature a unique story with all-new original characters.

The one constant is that each installment will be unmistakably a Star Wars story. While the several studios heading the project will maintain their trademark animation styles and Japanese cultural influences, the core remains unchanged. In other words, the stories they tell will retain all the classic elements of the Star Wars universe, including some familiar locations, weapons and antagonists.

Star Wars: Visions Trailer

The trailer for Star Wars: Visions says a lot while still revealing as little plot information as possible; it's a colorful, fast-paced montage of what looks like a few of the anthology's most epic moments. Eagle-eyed fans will notice staples such as an Imperial Star Destroyer and a gender-bent twist on General Grevious. The trailer revels in itself, eager to show viewers just how far the animation medium can push the boundaries of the Star Wars universe without completely breaking them. At the very least, Visions promises to be a visual treat. You can watch the trailer for Star Wars: Visions here:
