Some Pokémon are terrifying monsters that look fit to rip you to shreds. Others look like they give really good hugs. For every all-powerful, terrifying Pokémon out there, there are those who look like the ideal cuddling partners. Some are literally dolls granted sentience -- although Banette would probably not be best for cuddling, considering it internalizes the anger it feels from being abandoned.
The following five Pokémon are especially huggable, due either to some inherent ability to charm and enchant those who hold them or their inherent cute factor; large enough to offer an effective hug, rather than just being something the trainer can squeeze and hold.
Dragonite
Typically, gigantic scaly dragons wouldn't appear to be the most cuddly Pokémon. However, Dragonite is shaped like a friend. With this evolved dragon Pokémon's incredible physical strength, you might end up risking being crunched between its arms, but Dragonite, as their Pokédex entries state, are as smart as human beings and regularly save people from drowning and shipwrecks on the open sea. It's clear Dragonite knows exactly how to protect and nurture those in its grasp, ensuring perfect hugs.
Blissey
Blissey are naturally gifted nurses and caretakers, meaning that this Pokémon's hugs are tailor-suited for comfort and warmth. Blissey, despite being fairly round, is actually relatively light compared to its size, meaning Blissey is mostly soft air, like a balloon. Given this, they seem to be the perfect giver of hugs for all those in need of comfort and love. Blissey is able to sense emotions, offering eggs to those who are sad or lonely. Given this, if you are in need of a hug, Blissey will charge their way over to fill you with love within -- giving you an egg of happiness -- before snuggling you with warmth from without.
Granted, Blissy's small arms might have a hard time reaching around you. However, as shown in the Pokémon episode "Ignorance is Blissey" when a Blissey hugs Jessie from Team Rocket, Blisseys are capable of hugging people rather effectively with their tiny arms.
Lopunny
This human-shaped bunny Pokémon is one of the few that evolves only thanks to an abundance of friendship. Being filled with love and kindness, one can only expect Lopunny to return said kindness back to those who hug them. Lopunny are particularly cautious Pokémon, known to spring and kick when touched too roughly. This probably means that, so long as you give them a delicate, careful hug, they will return with the same, delicate touch. If you hug them during the wintertime, however, according to their Pokémon Shield Pokédex entry, you will have a warm, extra layer of fur, making them extra cozy.
Pangoro
This Pokémon is essentially a giant panda. With arms powerful enough to snap telephone poles, Pangoro appears to be a fearsome, intense Pokémon able to give the absolute greatest bear hugs imaginable. However, Pangoro have kind hearts, refusing to put up with any bullies and having a determination unmatched by any other Pokémon around. A hug with Pangoro means a hug with a powerful fighter and soft fur. The hugger in this equation is one who hates bullies and lives only to protect those it trusts.
Gengar
Of all the Pokémon in the world, Gengar looks geared to give spirited, soul-filling hugs. Sure, Gengar brings down the temperature around it when hiding, but all Gengar really wants is a traveling companion. Show the Ghost Pokémon some love and affection, and you will find a lifelong companion who will fill you not only with hugs but also with tons of laughs. Gengar's body is entirely round and soft looking, making the Pokémon just as cuddly as a Clefairy, only with the added bonus that, unlike a Clefairy, Gengar will actually make you laugh while hugging you.
Sure, this Pokémon's hugs might be too extreme for some trainers. Gengar has, according to the Pokédex, sometimes drained people of all their life energy. However, those who are equipped to handle Gengar's intense love and affection deserve to receive it.
