Yashahime Returns to the Future to Face the Modern World’s Most Dangerous Threat

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 43 of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, "The Blackout," now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Animelab and Hulu.

After successfully turning the Windmill of Time with the help of their grandmother and Akuru, the three half-demon princesses travel through time to the modern era to save the world from the Grim Comet. Using the Tree of Ages to appear at the Higurashis and reunite with Kagome's family, the cousins rush to Towa's old school to find Mr. Kirin -- who was once Kirinmaru's right arm.

While they decide to work together to face the massive new threat in Yashahime, they're all unaware that Kirinmaru is currently transcending time to catch up to them.

When the half-demon princesses suddenly appear at the Higurashis, the family is excited to reunite with them and confirm their wellbeing. Mei hugs Towa and tells them about the concert her violinist mother is performing in later that night, while Kagome's mother and grandfather come out to greet them. While the family is completely unaware of the Grim Comet, they inform them that Mr. Kirin visits them and the Sacred Tree often. Before heading out into the modern world, Mama Higurashi dresses the half-demons in Kagome's old clothes to cover up their suspicious feudal era clothing.

As the three cousins raced to get there, Mr. Kirin stayed busy slaying the influx of demons appearing in the modern era and attacking defenseless humans. From the shadows, Kirinmaru's right arm denounced the former ideals of the Beast King of the East. Mr. Kirin's clear defiance and deviation from Lord Kirinmaru demonstrates the same independence that Riku exercises as the menacing demon's former horn.

Despite being nearly killed by Kirinmaru in Episode 42 of Yashahime, Riku catches up to him in the Windmill of Time and takes Rion back after Kirinmaru had kidnapped her. While Kirinmaru can no longer reach the modern era with his daughter like he wanted, he continues to call out to Mr. Kirin from the Windmill of Time to guide him to the Reiwa Era.

After the half-demon princess trio finds Mr. Kirin at Towa's school, they initially distrust him because of his connection to Kirinmaru. However, he explains that he loves humanity and cherishes the modern world he wishes to protect. He's been working alone from the shadows to safeguard the city from violent and rabid demons that the Grim Comet brought along, and warns the gang of a large concert being held that night starring Mama Moe and a popular boy idol group. With many fans being in attendance, the three half-demons must work with Mr. Kirin to protect the large crowd and their Higurashi family members.

When the concert ends and they successfully keep everyone safe from the invading demons, the earth rotates its orientation so the Grim Comet is finally visible. As the cousins panic at the horrifying site of the large and menacing comet headed right toward them, they're confused by the calmness of the human crowd around them. Mr. Kirin explains that humans don't have the power to see the Grim Comet, so they'll have to destroy the comet themselves.

With Mr. Kirin standing in front of them, the three half-demon princesses get in their battle positions to face the Grim Comet head-on. Wanting to protect the modern world that's home to the people they love, the cousins stand firm in their conviction to destroy the comet on their own despite the perils they face. Yashahime fans are eager to see if the half-demons are capable of saving the world on their own -- or whether Kirinmaru will arrive to ruin their plans.
