Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 Will Include Funimation at Launch

Anime fans will be able to stream their favorite shows on their new next-gen console as soon as they turn it on, according to anime distribution company Funimation.

For those who want to watch some My Hero Academia or Attack on Titan after a gameplay session, Funimation is making sure you can. The anime distribution company announced Monday their streaming service app will be available to download on the Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5 launch days.

Executive Director of Distribution and Partnerships Fadhilah Lee said, "Funimation is thrilled to make the jump to the next generation of the gaming console and will be available for fans to stream right from day one. No matter what gaming console is preferred, fans will be able to watch all of their anime favorites."

Gamers and anime fans who decide to pick up Microsoft's Xbox Series S or an Xbox Series X can download the Funimation streaming app starting today. Players buying Sony's PlayStation 5 this week can download the app on the console's launch day, which is Nov. 12. The Funimation app will be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba are just a few of the many shows available on the service.

Customers are given a few subscription options. The Premium deal charges $5.99 per month for Ad-Free access to the library, subtitled and dubbed shows, and simultaneous streaming on two devices. Premium Plus grants you the same benefits of Premium at $7.99 per month along with up to five simultaneous streams, downloading shows for offline viewing and exclusive access to events and special deals. Finally, at Premium Plus Ultra's $99.99 per year price tag, subscribers get all of the perks from the first two deals, an "annual anniversary gift" and two free rentals per year.

The Xbox Series S|X released today. PlayStation 5 goes on sale on Nov. 12. The Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive version will retail for $499 USD, while the Digital Edition without a disc drive will retail for $399.
