Udon Announce New Steins;Gate Hardcover Omnibus and Sequel Manga

Udon Entertainment has announced that it will publish the Steins;Gate 0 manga in English this Fall, along with a special edition re-release of the original three volume Steins;Gate manga.

The hardcover, special edition reissue of Yomi Sarachi's original Steins;Gate manga adaptation will be released on Oct. 21 and will only be available at retailer Barnes and Noble. The 500 page omnibus features a cover with new artwork by Sarachi and a fold-out poster featuring the series' heroine, Kurisu Makise. The manga was originally published in 2009 and according to Udon, has been sold out and out of print for quite some time. In addition to the hardcover re-release, a standard edition soft-cover version of the manga will also be reprinted sometime during the spring of 2022.

The pseudo-sequel Steins;Gate 0, which features the same characters but with massive changes to the series' timelines and events, will also see an English release of its manga adaptation. The first three volumes of the manga sequel by Taka Himeno will be released by Udon on Sept. 7. As with the original series' re-release, the English editions of Steins;Gate 0 will get special editions available exclusively at Barnes and Noble. These special editions will also feature exclusive cover art and fold out posters depicting the series' main characters.

Steins;Gate originally began as a visual novel video game by Japanese developers 5pb and Nitroplus. The original game cast players in the role of Okabe Rintaro, a self-proclaimed mad scientist who is experimenting with time travel and is one the only person who possesses an ability known as "Reading Steiner," which allows him to perceive the changes that happen to different timelines as a result of time travel. Okabe is assisted by a team of students, including the genius neuroscience researcher Kurisu Makise. Their team eventually figures out how to send text messages into the past, which leads to them attracting the attention of a shadowy research organization and becoming involved in a series of events that may eventually lead to the outbreak of World War III. The original game received critical acclaim for its thoughtful writing and the complexity of its time traveling scenario.

The games were adapted into a critically acclaimed anime series by studio White Fox in 2011. In 2018, the studio also produced an anime adaptation of Steins;Gate 0. White Fox is also known for producing other popular anime series such as The Devil Is A Part-Timer and Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World.
