The release date and casting details for the English dub of CloverWorks' Tokyo 24th Ward have been revealed.
Crunchyroll announced that the English dub of the ongoing sci-fi anime will premiere on its streaming service on March 16 with the release of the show's first two episodes. The remaining 10 episodes will then be released on a weekly basis. The English voice cast features the talents of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's Billy Kametz as Shuta Aoi, Landon McDonald (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Koki Suido, Zeno Robinson of My Hero Academia fame as Ran Akagi and Xanthe Huynh (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day) as Asumi Suido. Popular YouTuber and actor Sungwon Cho will also play a supporting role in the anime as former teacher Hiroki Shirabaka.
Tokyo 24th Ward follows a group of childhood friends comprised of Shuta Aoi, Ran Akagi and Koki Suido, who are known together as "RGB." Their life within the "24th Ward"— a special district on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay — is largely uneventful until their school catches on fire and Koki's sister, Asumi, perishes in the flames. While the trio could have saved Asumi, they spent what precious time they had to do so arguing about the best way to rescue her. They go their separate ways, their friendship irrevocably tarnished as a result of her demise.
RGB band together again a year later, however, when, on the anniversary of the fire, they receive a mysterious phone call from an individual claiming to be Asumi. The caller then thrusts them into life-and-death situations as Shuta, Ran and Koki suddenly find themselves the only ones able to protect the 24th Ward and its people.
Tokyo 24th Ward boasts a considerable amount of talent behind the scenes, with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's Naokatsu Tsuda serving as its director. Its original Japanese voice cast also featured many famous voice actors, such as Junya Enoki (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train) as Shuta, Jujutsu Kaisen's Yuma Uchida as Ran, Kaito Ishikawa (My Hero Academia) as Koki and Manaka Iwami (Fruits Basket) as Asumi.
The first eight episodes of the Japanese language version of Tokyo 24th Ward can be streamed now on Crunchyroll and Funimation, with new episodes being added on a weekly schedule. The English dub of the anime will begin airing on March 16 at 10am Pacific time.
