Toei Animation Brings Dr. Slump and Saint Seiya: Hades to Tubi

Toei Animation's Dr. Slump and Saint Seiya: Hades anime are now available on the ad-supported streaming service Tubi.

Tubi announced that the Toei Animation anime Dr. Slump and Saint Seiya: Hades have been subtitled and translated into English on its platform. Both anime have never been officially translated and broadcast in English before, so international fans in English-speaking countries can now experience both of the classic anime for the first time. The arrival of Dr. Slump and Saint Seiya: Hades is a part of a larger agreement between Toei Animation and Tubi, which will see nearly 500 episodes from seven different anime series, as well as six One Piece TV specials, join Tubi's ever-expanding catalog. In addition to the TV specials, Tubi will also stream more episodes from the One Piece anime. Currently, Tubi offers other Toei Animation hits like Toriko, Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō, Ge-Ge-Ge No Kitaro and Slam Dunk, as well as TMS Entertainment's Anpanman anime films and Production I. G.'s vampire anime Blood+.

The studio behind cultural phenomena like One Piece and Sailor Moon, Toei Animation is perhaps best known internationally for its anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama's hugely successful Dragon Ball manga. Dr. Slump is another of the studio's well-known adaptations of a Toriyama manga. For over 200 episodes, the '80s anime follows the comedic adventures of genius inventor Senbei Norimaki and his creation Arale, a little robot girl whose naivete and superpowers cause trouble for Senbei's neighbors in Penguin Village. The predecessor of Dragon Ball and its beloved spinoffs Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, Dr. Slump has crossed over with its more famous successor on a few occasions, and the two series even share the same universe.

The 1980s Saint Seiya TV anime ran for 114 episodes but never finished adapting Masami Kurumada's original manga until 2002, when Toei Animation released the Saint Seiya: Hades OVA (Original Video Animation) series. Based on the manga's final arc, Saint Seiya: Hades spans 31 episodes and is split into three parts, titled "Sanctuary", "Inferno" and "Elysion." The OVA depicts Seiya and the rest of the Gold Saints' attempts to protect Athena from the vengeful Hades, Lord of the Underworld, who has sent out previously deceased Gold Saints to kill her. English and Spanish-speaking Saint Seiya fans can now finally experience the series' never-before-seen climactic battle on Tubi.
