Spy x Family Covertly Celebrates the Holidays in New Anime Art

The producers of the Spy x Family anime have released new winter-themed art from the show ahead of its spring premiere.

The new image depicts the Forger family's daughter, Anya, building snowmen modeled after her parents, Loid and Yor. The adorable new art was released through the official Twitter account for the series' upcoming anime adaptation, which is set to premiere in Japan in April 2022. The tweet also details a contest that is open to fans in Japan only. The new series is being produced as a collaboration between Wit Studio, which is best known for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and the original sci-fi series Vivy: Fluorite Eyes' Song, and CloverWorks, the animation studio behind the controversial anime adaptation of The Promised Neverland and one of the winter season's most highly anticipated shows, My Dress Up Darling.

A presentation for the new anime series kicked off this year's Jump Festa, which is a yearly convention put on my Shueisha, the publisher of Japan's premiere manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump. The Spy x Family panel premiered a new trailer for the anime, and revealed more of the show's voice cast: veteran voice actor Saori Hayami will portray Yor Forger, Loid's wife. Hayami is best known for playing the risk-addicted Yumeko Jibami in the popular Kakegurui anime. Loid's adopted daughter, Anya Forger will be played Atsumi Tanezaki, who previously starred in Mob Psycho 100 and The Ancient Magus' Bride. Takuya Eguchi, who is known for his roles in My Love Story and Haikyuu!!, was previously announced as the voice of the series' main character, Loid Forger.

Spy x Family tells the story of a super spy codenamed Twilight, whose latest mission requires him to pretend to be a wholesome family man in order to get closer to his target. Twilight dons the alias Loid Forger, and adopts a daughter and quickly enters into fake marriage with a seemingly normal girl. Unfortunately for him, his new family has secrets of their own: his new daughter is an escaped government experiment with psychic powers, and his wife leads a double life as one of the world's deadliest assassins.

The series was created by Tatsuya Endo and has become one of the biggest hits to emerge out of Shonen Jump+, Shueisha's digital manga platform. The series has received widespread acclaim for its sense of humor and heartwarming family drama. The series collected print editions have managed to sell over 11 million copies around the world. An international premiere date for the series has yet to be announced, but Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the series outside of Japan.
