Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Producer Shares a Positive Outlook Following Delay News

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) co-writer and co-producer Christopher Miller appears to be taking the film's recent delay in stride.

It recently came to light that Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) had lost its Oct. 7, 2022 release date and would now arrive in theaters on June 2, 2023. In light of this, Miller took to Twitter, in part, seemingly, to reassure fans upset by the news. "More time to make it great," he wrote.

Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Miller and David Callaham. The duo of Lord and Miller are also producing the film alongside Avi Arad, Amy Pascal and Christina Steinberg. Across the Spider-Verse serves as a two-part sequel to the Oscar-winning 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was produced by the same crew and similarly co-written by Lord.

The Into the Spider-Verse sequel was originally slated for release on April 8, 2022 before being pushed back to Oct. 7, 2022 and, ultimately, June 2, 2023. News of Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)'s latest delay was accompanied by the news that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) would release in theaters on March 29, 2024. Prior to this revelation, Part Two was said to be eyeing a 2023 release window.

Across the Spider-Verse sees Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson and Oscar Isaac reprise their roles as Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman/Spider-Gwen, Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man and Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099, respectively, from Into the Spider-Verse. Additionally, Issa Rae has been cast in the role of Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.

The animated Across the Spider-Verse duology accounts for only two of Sony's extensive slate of upcoming films belonging to its Spider-Man franchise. The live-action Kraven the Hunter film is currently slated for release on Jan. 13, 2023, followed by the live-action Madame Web film on July 7, 2023. Other projects currently in the works include a third live-action Venom film, a live-action Silk series and a female-centric Spider-Verse spinoff film led by Spider-Gwen, among several others.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) swings into theaters on June 2, 2023, followed by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) on March 29, 2024.
