With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, Yamaha and Kyoto Animation's popular musical anime Sound! Euphonium are collaborating to welcome music back into fan's lives.
According to Natalie, the collaboration will begin Sept. 27 with a live stream on the Yamaha YouTube channel featuring voice actors, music producers and composers from the anime series. Four follow-up live streams will occur on Oct. 2, 9, 24 and 30, and all five streams will be available to watch on the channel until Nov. 29. A video has been released to get fans excited about the collaboration.
Additionally, the Yamaha stores in Nagoya, Ginza and Osaka, Japan will hold Sound! Euphonium-themed stamp rallies and other exhibitions. While all of the stores will also play various compositions from the anime's soundtrack, only the Nagoya store will have virtual performances by the KitaUji orchestra with an in-person conductor.
Adapted from the novel series of the same name by Ayana Takeda, the first season of Sound! Euphonium aired in Japan between April 8 and July 1, 2015, and was directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Inuyasha, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S). The story follows the KitaUji High School Concert Band Club as they work hard to improve so they can compete at national tournaments.
The second season of Sound! Euphonium premiered in 2016, and both seasons of the show can be streamed on Crunchyroll. A third season was announced in 2019.
