Crunchyroll has released a new trailer for the shonen anime Orient, which introduces the series' new heroes.
The trailer predominantly focuses on the show's two main characters, teasing their individual personalities and goals. The new series' main hero is Musashi, a strong-willed teenager who idolizes the era's samurai, and is played by Yuma Uchida (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Jujutsu Kaisen). The series' other protagonist, Kojiro Kanemaki, is the son of a samurai who is scorned by his hometown, and is voiced by Soma Saito (ODDTAXI, Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town). The anime adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka's shonen manga series is scheduled to premiere as part of the streaming company's winter 2022 lineup.
Uchida and Saito are joined by several other veteran voice actors, including Rie Takahashi (Muteking the Dancing Hero, Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia), Satoshi Hino (Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), Hiro Shimono (Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) and Azumi Waki (I've Been Killing Slimer for 300 years and Maxed Out My Level, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!).
Orient is set in an alternate version of Japan's Sengoku period, where the country is ruled by demons. The story follows Musashi as he tries to confront the demons using his unique special power. The manga was first published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in May 2018 before it was transferred to Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine earlier this year.
Animation studio A.C.G.T. (Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?, Minami Kamakura High School Girls Cycling Club) is producing the series with Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Heaven's Lost Property the Movie: The Angeloid of Clockwork) serving as Orient's director. Mariko Kunisawa (Ascendance of a Bookworm, Zenmai Zamurai) is overseeing the series composition, Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle) is composing the music and Takahiro Kishida (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Haikyu!!) is designing the characters.
While anime fans will have to wait a few more months for Orient to premiere, they can watch several other new shows that are currently debuting as part of Crunchyroll's fall 2021 season, including The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, Build Divide -#00000 (Code Black)- and Platinum End.
Orient is expected to be released sometime in January 2022. Other anime series that are scheduled to premiere in 2022 are Girls' Frontline, Love After World Domination, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Saiyuki Reload ZEROIN and The Executioner and Her Way of Life.
