5 Pokémon That Would Make Awful Pets in Real Life

While many fans dream of owning a Pokémon as a pet in real life, not all Pokémon are suitable for domestication. Several cute and fluffy Pokémon would make naturally great pets, like Eevee and Skitty, but most Pokémon are dangerous or impossible to cohabitate with. Here are the five worst Pokémon to keep as pets in real life.

Koffing

When it comes to unpleasant Pokémon to keep in your house, it doesn't get much worse than Koffing. Koffing is a poison-type Pokémon that mixes toxic gas and garbage to create a potent and sometimes lethal mix. Not only would the smell generated from rotting garbage and toxins make the house smell uninhabitable, but Koffing's gas comes with a list of side effects including watery eyes, coughing, and runny noses. This toxic gas can even be life-threatening to its owner if its gas is ignited by electricity or flames. Koffing's gas production is only increased whenever it's in high temperatures, making it an even more not suitable pet for those living in warmer climates. While many people actively seek air purifiers for their homes, Koffing would act as the opposite of that.

Drowzee

Drowzee would make bedtime a horrifying experience for its owner because it eats dreams through its victim's nose while they're sleeping. This Pokémon has the ability to put others to sleep against their will and read their dreams before consuming them. Drowzee believes that the dreams of children are tastier than those of adults, making it an especially bad pet for families with children. While it can recall every dream it's ever eaten, it also has a wicked ability to show others the dreams it's seen and consumed. Those unfortunate enough to end up with Drowzee as a pet are sure to develop incurable insomnia.

Xatu

Since birds have made popular pets for centuries, one might initially assume that Xatu would make a great pet who can fit inside the house. However, Xatu spends most of its life standing perfectly still out of sheer terror. With a powerful ability to see into both the past and future, Xatu is usually frozen in fear of the visions it sees. This mystical and intense Pokémon would be unnerving to run into in the middle of the night. Meanwhile, the owner would always be left wondering if Xatu foresees a tragic future for them that it fears.

Drifloon

Drifloon

Drifloon is a terrifying pet to own, especially if you have children to look out for. This creepy ghost-type Pokémon aimlessly drifts around, often being mistaken for a balloon that's grabbed by children. In its pursuit of company, Drifloon abducts children and carries them away while these children are later declared missing. Drifloon eventually steals and absorbs the souls of these children, and the collection of the many souls together keeps it afloat. Given its haunting collection of lost souls taken from people and Pokémon alike, Drifloon feels more like a horror character out of It rather than a practical pet to keep around.

Snorlax

Snorlax With Pecha Berries

Snorlax is far more than an inconveniently large pet that will take up most of the space in your living room. This lazy and slow Pokémon sleeps for most hours of the day, finding it hard to move its rotund body. While its large belly and sleepy disposition might make it seem like a cuddly pet, Snorlax actually requires at least 900 pounds of food a day to survive. While it isn't a picky eater, it usually wakes up solely to eat an obscene amount of food before going back to sleep. If you're brave enough to adopt such a large and gluttonous Pokémon, Snorlax may literally eat you out of house and home.
