Seven Seas Entertainment announced the license acquisition for My Next Life as a Villainess Side Story: On the Verge of Doom!
My Next Life as a Villainess Side Story: On the Verge of Doom! is an alternate universe spinoff of the light novels, manga and anime series My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! by Satoru Yamaguchi, nishi and Nami Hidaka. The original story follows Katarina Claes, who discovers that she has been reborn into the world of a dating simulator game, where she is destined to either die or be exiled. Knowing the outcome, Katarina works to change her fate by refusing the role of the villainess. Instead, she aims to befriend all the characters around her.
The Villainess side story flips the original tale on its head to explore different possibilities. In this version, after being reincarnated in the dating sim, Katarina Claes doesn't regain the memories of her past life when she hits her head, but rather when she turns fifteen. With less than a year to go before her destruction and "game over," Katarina must find a way to avoid all possible bad endings.
Seven Seas will publish the My Next Life as a Villainess Side Story: On the Verge of Doom! manga for the first time in North America in print and on digital platforms, starting with volume 1 in December 2021. Season 1 of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! anime is available on Crunchyroll, with the second season set to air in July 2021. The light novels and manga for the original series are available for purchase in both print and digital formats.
