RE:Anime Releases Trailer for Live-Action Naruto: Shikamaru’s Revenge

A new trailer for the next installment of RE:Anime's live-action reimagining of the Naruto manga and anime franchise is available online, entitled Naruto Live Action: Shikamaru's Revenge.

The minute-long teaser brings the animated character of Shikamaru to life, pitting him against Hidan and Kakuzu in another epic spiritual battle of wit and force. Shikamaru is joined by Asuma and other allies in his stand against the sadistic, bloodthirsty ninjas who prey upon the meek.

Coming on the heels of RE:Anime's viral web series Naruto Live Action: Climbing Silver, the forthcoming adaptation is expected to be released online as a multipart miniseries. The stated mission of RE:Anime is "to adapt fan-favorite Anime programs into high-quality live-action films while representing the culture and characters that are true to each story and each Anime's intended values."

Created by Masashi Kishimoto, the Naruto manga was serialized from 1999 to 2014, selling over 250 million copies worldwide. While having been adapted twice into anime films as well as other media, RE:Anime's productions represent the first live-action renditions of the renowned series. The brainchild of director Nik Shaw, RE:Anime is at work on other live-action projects tracing their roots to anime, such as One-Punch Man and Hunter x Hunter.
