Ryōma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie premiered in theaters in Japan on Sept. 3, and now the first three and a half minutes of the movie are available to watch online.
The three minutes showcase the film's opening musical and dance number. As reported by Anime News Network, Takeshi Konomi, the original manga creator, wrote all the insert songs and rap lyrics himself, while anime industry-veteran Takeshi Takadera (Cardfight!! Vanguard, D.Gray-man Hallow) served as the movie's sound director. Industry-newcomer Kei Tsuda composed the music.
The Monk Studios (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV), Keica (Tatakae! Space Attendant Aoi) and Studio KAI (Godzilla Singular Point, Moriarty the Patriot) worked together to animate Ryōma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie. Hiroshi Koujina (Neuro - Supernatural Detective) directed the movie, Takehiko Hata (Lupin III: Goodbye Partner) wrote the script and Patricia Hishikawa (Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate) supervised the CG.
The movie tells a completely new story that takes place during the three months between the end of the original The Prince of Tennis manga and the beginning of its sequel, The New Prince of Tennis. There are two versions of the film -- the "Decide" version, which focuses on Seigaku team captain Kunimitsu Tezuka and Rikkai team leader Seiichi Yukimura, and the "Glory" version, which tells the story from the perspectives of Hyōtei team captain Keigo Atobe and Shitenhōji captain Kuranosuke Shiraishi.
Currently, an international release for Ryōma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie has not been announced.
