A Blu-ray release for the critically acclaimed ODDTAXI has been confirmed, thanks to successful pre-order campaign.
According to ODDTAXI's official Twitter account, a total of 6,038 Blu-ray sets were pre-ordered, which is more than 20 times the minimum amount (300 sets) required by the pre-order campaign in order to guarantee production of the sets. The producers of the series previously announced that, due to a declining market for physical media, the sleeper-hit series would not receive a Blu-ray release unless they could guarantee a certain amount of preorders in advance. The campaign also included several stretch goals for bonus items, which were all met during the campaign's pre-order period; this means that in addition to the anime itself, the Blu-ray sets will now also include a staff artbook, an original picture, a new character song, a soundtrack outtake CD, a Donraku eraser, audio commentaries and a "cute" figure of main character Odokawa.

Originally airing from April 6 to June 29 on Tokyo TV and AT-X in Japan, ODDTAXI is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals and follows Odokawa, a middle-aged walrus who is socially awkward because he was abandoned by his parents as a child. The episodes show his interactions with the various inhabitants of Tokyo who ride in his taxi. The anime was produced by OLM (Komi Can't Communicate, Restaurant to Another World) and P.I.C.S. (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Rusuden Hour: Sodan Brothers).
ODDTAXI was the anime industry debut for director Baku Kinoshita and screenwriter Kadzuya Konomoto, but the creative team also featured many veterans of the industry. Hideaki Oba (Lupin III vs. Detective Conan, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) and Sayaka Yamai (Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, Space Dandy) both served as episode directors, Hiromi Nakayama (Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, Zoids Wild) designed the characters, Yoshiki Ushiroda (Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Detective Conan: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital) edited the series and Kohei Yoshida (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) oversaw the show's sound design.
The voice cast includes several popular, experienced actors, including Natsuki Hanae (Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy, The Case Study of Vanitas), Riho Iida (World's End Harem, Boarding School Juliet), Ryōhei Kimura (The World Ends With You: The Animation, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon), Kappei Yamaguchi (The Ancient Magus' Bride, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable) and Suzuko Mimori (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, Fairy Tail).
All 13 episodes of ODDTAXI are currently available to stream on Crunchryoll, and the Blu-ray sets are expected to ship sometime in March 2022.
