Netflix's Army of the Dead: Las Vegas anime series has added Joe Manganiello (Justice League) and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Heathers) to its cast.
Per Variety, Manganiello and Slater join a massive cast that also includes includes Harry Lennix (Man of Steel), Anya Chalotra (The Witcher), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Jena Malone (Sucker Punch) and Yetide Badaki (American Gods). Army of the Dead: Las Vegas will serve as a prequel to Zack Snyder's upcoming live-action Netflix zombie film Army of the Dead, with Dave Bautista also reprising his role as Scott.
Notably, numerous Las Vegas cast members have worked with Snyder before. Manganiello previously worked with Snyder on Justice League, portraying the infamous mercenary Deathstroke. He teased a much larger role for Deathstroke in Snyder's upcoming director's cut for HBO Max. Malone and Lennix have also worked with Snyder on Sucker Punch and Man of Steel, respectively. Slater is well known for portraying the eponymous character on the USA series Mr. Robot.
Snyder will direct two episodes of the anime, and also produce the series via his Stone Quarry banner. Meduzarts Animation Studio will handle the animation duties. In addition to Army of the Dead: Las Vegas, a prequel film centered on Mattias Schweighöfer's Ludwig Dieter is in the works. Schweighöfer will also serve as director on the film.
Based on a story by Zack Snyder and a screenplay from Joby Harold, who recently wrote King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film does not yet have a release date.
