My Hero Academia: 5 Characters Who Will Awaken Their Quirks (& 5 Who Won’t)

Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia has its own power system, called Quirks, which around 80% of the population possesses. These Quirks grant supernatural abilities to their wielders and thus make them much stronger and capable.

Under certain conditions, Quirks can undergo the process of Awakening, something that makes them even stronger. Only a handful of characters have gained this power so far but there are those who are on the verge of gaining this power as well.

10 Will Awaken: Dabi

Out of the main members of the League of Villains, now known as the Paranormal Liberation Front, Dabi is one of the few characters who didn't get a chance to awaken his powers.

All the others, such as Toga, Twice, and even Shigaraki, managed to push their Quirks beyond all their limits. It goes without saying that Dabi is one of the strongest known members of the League and once he's properly under the spotlight, his Quirk will definitely undergo Awakening.

9 Won't Awaken: Spinner

Spinner is yet another member of the League of Villains and possibly their weakest one so far. His Quirk is known as Gecko and it gives him the appearance of a lizard and the ability to stick to walls. Spinner is hardly ever useful, especially in terms of combat, and with his level of skill, undergoing Quirk awakening is highly unlikely.

8 Will Awaken: Shoto Todoroki

Shoto Todoroki is one of the brightest Hero aspirants in U.A. right now and he aims to become a great pro Hero. Being Endeavor's son, Shoto possesses immense talent which, according to some, is enough to see him surpass All Might.

Shoto's Quirk is known as Half-Cold Half-Hot and it allows him to manipulate both ice and fire at will. Although this Quirk is strong already, in the future, it'll get even stronger as Shoto awakens its powers.

7 Won't Awaken: Tsuyu Asui

Tsuyu is a student from U.A's Class 1-A and she usually plays the support role most of the time. Her Quirk gifts her the characteristics of a frog, and although it appears to be nothing too special, the way she uses it makes this Quirk very useful.

However, the limitations of the powers that this Quirk offers is very clear. Even though Tsuyu can definitely improve her grasp over her abilities, Awakening her Quirk is a different story altogether.

6 Will Awaken: Katsuki Bakugo

Bakugo is the rival of Izuku Midoriya and one of the most powerful Hero aspirants in U.A. He possesses a Quirk known as Explosion that grants him the power to release nitroglycerin from his sweat glands and ignite it to create massive explosions.

Bakugo has already achieved tremendous control over his powers even though he's far from the finished product. In time, he'll likely awaken his Quirk and gain powers that are beyond his current limitations.

5 Won't Awaken: Monoma

Monoma is from U.A's Class 1-B and he has one of the most powerful Quirks seen in the series to date. Monoma's Quirk, known as Copy, allows him to copy the Quirks of other people for a limited time when certain conditions are met.

As evident, this Quirk is already extremely powerful. Monoma doesn't need to awaken his powers to get stronger. Rather, he has a lot of things to work on if he needs to get stronger. For him, awakening doesn't make much sense.

4 Will Awaken: Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya is the main protagonist of My Hero Academia and the 9th wielder of the One For All Quirk. His Quirk allows him to stockpile power and boost all his physical attributes to an incredibly high level.

Although One For All has already awakened to an extent, there are other aspects of this Quirk that still need to awaken. For that reason, fans are certain this Quirk will undergo Awakening at some point.

3 Won't Awaken: Itsuka Kendo

Kendo is the representative of Class 1-B and one of their smartest students. Often, she's seen engaged in a rivalry with Yaoyorozu Momo from Class 1-A. Kendo's Quirk gives her the power to gigantify her hands at will.

There isn't much to this Quirk's power and Kendo seems to have mastered all aspects of it already. It is highly unlikely for this power to awaken in the future of My Hero Academia.

2 Will Awaken: Mirio Togata

Mirio is one of the most powerful characters in My Hero Academia despite being a student himself. He possessed the powers of Permeation which allowed him to phase through things at will.

Although Mirio lost his Quirk during the Shie Hassaikai arc, he will inevitably get it back one day. Once he does, he'll be stronger than ever and with the level of effort that he puts in, achieving Quirk Awakening is inevitable.

1 Won't Awaken: Shota Aizawa

Aizawa is a pro Hero and also a teacher at U.A High School. He possesses quite a powerful Quirk, known as Erasure, which allows him to erase the Quirk of any person for as long as he maintains eye contact with them.

Aizawa's Quirk is already very powerful and there doesn't seem to be any room for a Quirk Awakening in his case. There are aspects of his Quirk that he could still work on to get stronger.
