Moriarty the Patriot Returns With New OVA Trailer

Production I.G's Moriarty the Patriot graces screens once more with a new trailer promoting its pair of upcoming OVA episodes.

The trailer provides fans with a peek into the new mysteries that William Moriarty and his crew will unravel in the two-episode OVA project. The first OVA ,"Yuri no Tsuioku" ("Recollection of Lily"), will have surprises for all fans, as it features an anime-only story not told in the manga. In the episode, William and Co. attempt to solve the question of who vandalized the masterpiece of a popular aristocratic painter in Bath, a British City famously known for its Roman baths.  The self-proclaimed crime consultant's nemesis, detective Sherlock Holmes, and his trusty partner, John H. Watson, will join William in hunting down the culprit.

The second OVA, titled "Moriarty-ke no Kyujitsu," or "Moriarty Family Holiday," adapts Chapter 32 of the manga, and will be the more lighthearted of the two new episodes. The story revolves around a decadent tea party held at the Moriarty estate, where William and his friends have to play the role of perfect gentlemen to their invited guests to mask the backoffice dealings occurring in the shadows.

Ryosuke Takeuchi's Moriarty the Patriot is a Japanese manga series inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It provides a unique spin on William James Moriarty, the second son of the Moriarty household, by following his quest to destroy Britain's current rigid economic hierarchy which casts immense favor upon the wealthy aristocracy, while the working class is left by the wayside. An ordinary noble and university lecturer by day, William will go to any lengths to achieve his goals, along with his brothers Albert and Louis. Hellbent on uncovering William's crimes, however, is consulting detective Sherlock Holmes, who quickly realizes that someone is pulling the strings in a series of seemingly unrelated incidents.

Due to its popularity, Moriarty the Patriot has received several reimaginings over the years. A 24-episode anime adaptation was produced by Production I.G, with Kazuya Nomura (Run with the Wind) serving as its director. The Japanese cast of the anime series showcases the legendary voices of Soma Saito (Sasaki and Miyano) as William, Takuya Sato (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) as Albert, SK8 the Infinity's Chiaki Kobayashi as Louis,  Makoto Furukawa of One-Punch Man fame as Sherlock and Yuki Ono (Kuroko's Basketball) as Watson.

The Blu-ray and DVD for Moriarty the Patriot's new OVA episodes will be released in Japan on April 27. Both seasons of the anime can be streamed now on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
