Make My Day, a New Anime by Gundam Thunderbolt’s Yasuo Otagaki, Is Coming to Netflix

The newly announced anime film Make My Day is coming to Netflix.

As part of the streamer's Geeked Week, the official Netflix Geeked Twitter account teased Make My Day, an original anime devised by Yasuo Otagaki, the author of the science-fiction manga Moonlight Mile and the original creator of the manga and ONA (Original Net Animation) series Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt. Netflix's tweet includes the upcoming horror film's first visual and hints at its mysterious story.

Little is currently known about Make My Day, and there is no official release date. However, some of the anime's staff has already been announced. Makoto Honda, whose only previous credit is as a 3D director on the ONA adaptation of the Sakura Wars video game franchise, has been confirmed as the film's director. Honda will be joined by 5 Inc., which will animate and create the film's original character designs.

Make My Day will join Netflix's rapidly expanding catalog of original anime catering to the platform's growing anime fanbase. During Geeked Week, Netflix announced an anime adaptation of its original film Bright and released an extended look for its upcoming supernatural crime anime Trese. The streaming service also recently acquired Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie parts 1 and 2.

Make My Day is set on a frozen planet where mysterious creatures have suddenly emerged from the depths and are attacking the planet's population. The film will depict humanity's attempts to survive this terror that lurks "beyond the horizon."
