The original Puella Magi Madoka Magica TV anime premiered in Jan. 2011, quickly becoming a hit for its dark take on the magical girl genre. The 12-episode series was condensed into two compilation films in 2012, building up to the sequel story Rebellion the following year.
Since the anime was first released, it has received a manga series along with several spinoffs, movies and a mobile game with its own anime series. Puella Magi Madoka Magica is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix and HBO Max.
