Popular anime franchise Macross Frontier is set to receive a new short film titled Gekijoban Tanpen Macross Frontier ~Toki no Meikyu~!
Slated to premiere in 2021 along with the Gekijōban Macross Delta: Zettai LIVE!!!!!! movie, the short is the franchise's first new anime installment in ten years and will feature an original storyline.
A key visual starring protagonists Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee was also released with the announcement.
Franchise creator Shoji Kawamori will return to direct, write and storyboard the new installment, which will be animated by Satelight. Music will be produced by Flying Dog.
Gekijoban Tanpen Macross Frontier ~Toki no Meikyu~ and Gekijōban Macross Delta: Zettai LIVE!!!!!! are slated to open together in 2021.
