Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Animators Share Art Celebrating Stone Ocean’s Premiere

Several artists who worked on the new season of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are celebrating the premiere of Part 6 by sharing their art from the series.

The first 12 episodes from the long-awaited fifth season of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are now available in multiple regions around the world, exclusively through Netflix. The series' title and the name of the new arc's central protagonist, Jolene, have been trending internationally on Twitter throughout the day, and three artists who worked on the series, under the Twitter handles @mahkeyartist, @blazepoof and @KichikuTeacher, responded to the positive reception the season is already receiving by posting some of their artwork.

Jolene Cujoh, the series' first female main character and the new Joestar descendant at the center of the Stone Ocean arc, is featured in all three artworks, with two of them also depicting her Stand, the string based Stone Free. @mahkeyartist's piece also features Jotaro Kujo, Jolene's father and the fan-favorite protagonist of the Stardust Crusaders arc.

The Stone Ocean arc is set ten years after the events of the Golden Wind chapter of the series. After being framed for a deadly drunk-driving accident, Jolene is sent to Florida's Green Dolphin Street Jail. After a visit from her father, Jolene awakens her abilities as a Stand user and is drawn into a conflict with the prison's chaplain, Enrico Pucci, after he is revealed to be a follower of Dio, the man that has antagonized the Joestar family for generations.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is easily Netflix's most anticipated anime release of the season. The streaming company announced that it had acquired the exclusive streaming rights to the new season in August. Netflix will reportedly release new episodes in batches, though it has yet to announce when the second run of episodes will be available. In the United States, all four of the anime's previous seasons are also streaming on the service, in addition to the animated Rohan Kishibe spinoff. In addition to Jojo's, Netflix also recently began broadcast several other anime series exclusive to its service, including the critically lauded Komi Can't Communicate and the newest season of the long-running Pokemon anime.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure originally premiered in 1987. Araki's multi-part epic is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. VIZ Media localizes and distributes the manga in North America.
