A promo for tonight's episode of The CW's Batwoman -- "If You Believe in Me, I'll Believe in You" -- finally sees Gabriel Mann's Tommy Elliot suit up as the infamous Batman villain known simply as Hush.
Batwoman has teased Hush's arrival since very early on, with the character of Tommy Elliot being introduced all the way back in the series' third episode, "Down Down Down." With viewers catching a glimpse of the Hush costume in last week's 17th episode -- "A Narrow Escape" -- the promo now shows Tommy donning his comic book counterpart's iconic coat and bandage-style mask to wreak havoc on Gotham City, with the local media giving him the nickname of "Hush."
A childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's with a serious grudge against Batman (later discovering the two were one in the same), Tommy made a quick enemy in Ruby Rose's Kate Kane/Batwoman early in the season -- believing that if there was a new Dark Knight in town, the original couldn't be far behind. Batwoman managed to defeat Tommy and throw him in Arkham Asylum, from where he escaped in last week's episode -- setting the stage for his big debut as Hush.
Created by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams, Dr. Thomas Elliot first appeared in 2003's Batman #609. He was the central antagonist of that creative team's beloved storyline Batman: Hush, which began in Batman #608 and concluded in issue #619. Mann is the third actor to portray Tommy in live-action, with Cole Vallis playing the character in Gotham Season 1 and Gordon Winarick taking over in Season 4.
Created by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
