Girls’ Frontline Trailer Prepares for Battle with New Characters and Theme

Warner Bros. Japan has released another trailer for the highly anticipated Girls' Frontline anime, which is scheduled to premiere early next year.

The trailer reveals new details about the upcoming series. It teases the ending theme song, "HORIZON" by TEAM SHACHI, and confirms more members of the voice cast: Mikako Komatsu (Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale OnlineDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Gentiane, Nao Tōyama (Blue ExorcistMoriarty the Patriot) as Kalina, Hitomi Nabatame (Persona 4: The Animation, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon) as Agent, Kaya Okuno (Restaurant to Another WorldMagi: Adventure of Sinbad) as Scarecrow, Shizuka Itou (The Way of the HousehusbandWandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina) as Executioner and Akio Ohtsuka (Lupin the Third Part 6Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045) as Kryuger.

As previously reported, Girls' Frontline stars Haruka Tomatsu (Violet EvergardenGoblin Slayer) as M4A1M, Nozomi Yamane (Azur Lane, Revue Starlight) as M16A1, Emiri Katō (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon MaidThe Seven Deadly Sins) as ST AR-15 and Yukari Tamura (The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat) as M4 SOP MOD II.

The anime is based on the popular mobile strategy RPG game of the same name, which was released in China on May 20, 2016, and globally on May 8, 2018. The game takes place in a war-torn future where tactical, robotic dolls (also known as T-Dolls) are used in place of humans in combat situations. The story depicts a conflict between T-Dolls and humanity after Sangvis Ferri, an artificial intelligence, rebels and commands the robots to kill their human masters.

Asahi Productions (Merman in My TubMillion Doll) is animating Girls' Frontline with Shigeru Ueda (Mobile Suit Gundam OOShaman King) serving as director. Hideyuki Kurata (Made in AbyssScorching Ping Pong Girls) is overseeing series composition, Masaki Yamada (Magical CananDeadman Wonderland) is designing the characters, Takashi Watanabe (Gate Keepers, Blade of the Immortal) is composing the music and Yuki Honda (Fate/Grand Order: First OrderFullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is handling the editing.

Girls' Frontline is set to premiere sometime in January 2022. It will debut alongside several other new anime series like Love After World Domination, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from MercuryThe Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, Police in a PodCyberpunk: Edgerunners, Requiem of the Rose King and new seasons of Ascendance of a Bookworm, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? and Tiger & Bunny.

The mobile game is playable on Android and iOS.
