From American Gods to The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Here Are This Week’s Best Trailers

The holiday season is officially in full swing, with new trailers for television, film, anime, comics and video games that tease what's to come at the end of 2020 and in early 2021, including American Gods, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. From the return of eagerly anticipated television series to holiday specials, the coming weeks are packed with exciting debuts.

Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos released the first week of December 2020.

American Gods

After a lengthy hiatus, American Gods returns for its third season next month, with a trailer showing Shadow and Mister Wednesday fresh off the revelation that the latter was the former's father all along. As the Old Gods continue to struggle to maintain their relevance in the world, the next generation of deities rise while Shadow contemplates his divine destiny in the frozen midwestern town of Lakeside.

Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Ian McShane, Kahyun Kim, Demore Barnes and Chris Obi. Season 3 will premiere on Jan. 10, 2021.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina returns for its fourth and final season just time in to close out the year, with the Netflix show's new trailer teasing the end of the world. As Sabrina Spellman celebrates her birthday with her friends and family, Greendale is menaced by eldritch terrors possessing the power to distort reality and trigger the apocalypse. While Netflix announced the fourth season would be the show's last, series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has since hinted that there would be more to come following its conclusion.

Arriving Dec. 31 on Netflix, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 4 stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardwell/Madam Satan, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, Lachlan Watson as Theo Putnam, Gavin Leatherwood as Nicholas Scratch, Tati Gabrielle as Prudence Blackwood, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, Richard Coyle as Faustus Blackwood and Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman.

Doctor Who

After the cliffhanger Season 12 finale, which saw the 13th Doctor imprisoned in an extraterrestrial prison, the upcoming Doctor Who holiday special, "Revolution of the Daleks," leaves Earth vulnerable and the Daleks poised to strike. Fortunately, fan-favorite character Captain Jack Harkness makes his return to assist the Doctor's current group of companions while the Doctor attempts to motivate herself to regain her freedom once again.

"Revolution of the Daleks" stars Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole, John Barrowman, Chris Noth, Harriet Walter and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. The Doctor Who holiday special airs on BBC America on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Earwig and the Witch

Award-winning animation house Studio Ghibli is poised to release its first fully 3D animated feature film: Earwig and the Witch. Adapting the fantasy novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones, Earwig and the Witch is produced by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by his son and fellow filmmaker Goro Miyazaki. The film follows a young orphan adopted by a supernatural couple, which leads to a whole series of misadventures packed with myths and magic.

Directed by Goro Miyazaki, Earwig and the Witch will premiere on Dec. 30 in Japan, with a North American release planned for early 2021.

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers

The Fast & Furious franchise's animated television series Fast & Furious: Spy Racers sets out for North Africa in its upcoming third season on Netflix. After the high-octane team's leader Ms. Nowhere goes missing on a secret mission in the Sahara Desert, Tony Toretto leads the ensemble in all-terrain vehicles and camouflaged sports cars to confront a megalomaniacal villain that can control the weather with his network of orbital satellites.

Executive produced by Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, Chris Morgan, Tim Hedrick and Bret Haaland, the first two seasons of Fast & Furious: Spy Racers is now available to stream on Netflix. The series stars Tyler Posey, Camille Ramsey, Luke Youngblood, Charlet Chung and Jorge Diaz. Season 3 premieres on Dec. 26 on Netflix.

King in Black: Return of the Valkyries

The latest Marvel Comics crossover event King in Black is finally here after years of steady development across various titles helmed by acclaimed writer Donny Cates. One tie-in miniseries poised to make waves across the main event is Return of the Valkyries, by Jason Aaron, Torunn Grønbekk and Nina Vakueva bringing the formidable Asgardian fighting force back to the Marvel Universe after their bloody last stand during last year's War of the Realms. A motion comic trailer shows the latest Valkyrie in a cosmic dive bar before being drawn into the epic conflict.

King in Black: Return of the Valkyries #1, by Jason Aaron, Torunn Grønbekk and Nina Vakueva, goes on sale in January 2021 from Marvel Comics.

Marvel Future Fight

The popular mobile game Marvel Future Fight has gotten a whole host of nefarious characters in its latest update with the Dark Avengers joining the fray. A whopping six new fighters have been added to the game, including the Sentry, Ares, Moonstone, Wolverine's lethal son Daken and Scorpion. The new additions have designs based on those in Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato, Jr.'s acclaimed comic book run starring the villainous team. Completing the ensemble are new designs for Norman Osborn and Bullseye based on their Dark Avengers appearances.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

The inaugural season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond has come to close, with some major betrayals causing members of the group to go their separate ways. AMC has released a teaser for the second season, and the video puts the Civic Republic Military (CRM) in the spotlight. In the video, antagonist Elizabeth Kublek, flanked by troops, declares the CRM is the last hope for humanity in the post-apocalyptic world.
