Dragon Ball Super: Vegeta’s Strategy Against Granolah Is Pure Troll

WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 74, by Akira Toriyama, Toyotarou, Caleb Cook and Brandon Bovia, available now in English through Viz Media.

After Granolah defeated Goku in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 73, Vegeta stepped up to face off against the last Cerealian. However, there was some question as to just how effective Vegeta would really be in a fight against someone so powerful. And while Dragon Ball Super Chapter 74 only teases the Saiyan Prince's true power, he spends a chunk of the latest entry of the manga trolling his opponent to great effect.

Initially, Vegeta tries to convince Granolah that he neither works with Freeza nor was responsible for the destruction of the Cerealians. Granolah, though, doesn't care. Instead, he just wants to get revenge on all Saiyans. With that in mind, Vegeta starts fighting against Granolah. Soon, Vegeta makes an unsuccessful tactical retreat. While Granolah brags that he's clearly stronger than Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince remains defiant, claiming he'll win their battle and mocking his opponent.

The battle then goes into the air, and Vegeta starts launching energy blasts at Granolah. The Cerealian easily bats them away and fires a shot of his own at Vegeta. However, unbeknownst to Granolah, they're above the ruins of a Cerealian city -- which his blast destroys. "You're fine blowing up what's left of the city?" Vegeta asks. "Full of all those precious memories?" This angers Granolah, who replies, "You're a dead man!"

Vegeta tricks Granolah into destroying a Cerealian city in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 74, by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou.

Before their fighting begins again, though, Vegeta explains to Granolah that his trolling has served a greater purpose. By tricking Granolah into destroying a Cerelian city, the Saiyan Prince now knows that his opponent is inexperienced and not used to his powers. So while Vegeta is physically weaker than Granolah, his experience gives him a leg up in at least one way.

Vegeta's trolling may also serve another purpose, though. By angering the Cerealian, the Saiyan Prince is making his opponent a sloppier fighter, which means that Vegeta's experience will prove even more beneficial in combat. Vegeta also now knows that Granolah doesn't want to see his planet destroyed -- a compunction that he does not share. By trolling Granolah, Vegeta is effectively proving that there's more to a battle than just being the strongest fighter.

Will Vegeta continue trolling Granolah? Find out in the next exciting chapter of Dragon Ball Super, which releases on Aug. 18 through Viz Media.
