DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Drops First Trailer and Posters for the Netflix Anime Series

Netflix released a full trailer and four character posters for DOTA: Dragon's Blood, a new adult-oriented animated action series based on Valve's popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game DOTA 2.

Though the series is being marketed as a "Netflix Original Anime Series," this is not a Japanese production. The series was produced at Netflix Animation in Los Angeles, with Ashley Edward Miller, screenwriter of X-Men: First Class and Thor, serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series is animated in Korea by Studio Mir, the same studio that animated The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Ryu Ki Hyun is the co-executive producer.

The synopsis of the series is as follows:

The upcoming fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined. The series is based on the hugely successful global video-game franchise DOTA 2 by Valve.

Four character posters, for Davion (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal), Miranda (Lara Pulver), Luna (Kari Wahlgren) and Invoker (Troy Baker), were released along with the trailer.
