Funimation will stream two new Demon Slayer recap specials starting on Oct. 7.
The new specials, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Asakusa Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tsuzumi Mansion Arc, re-edit episodes from their respective arcs in the Demon Slayer anime into a hour-and-a-half/two-hour movie format. The two new specials will join the previous three specials, which recapped the events of the Sibling's Bond, Mt. Natagumo and The Hashira Meetings arc, on Funimation's streaming service. The specials provide a slightly faster way for new fans of the series to catch up on Season 1's events, or for existing fans to give themselves a quick refresher on the story before the premiere of Season 2, which will begin on Oct. 10 with a seven-episode retelling of the Mugen Train Arc.
While Season 2's Mugen Train Arc will mostly be made out of re-edited footage from the Mugen Train movie, the first episode of the season will be an all-new story that shows how the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku made his way onto the eponymous demon-controlled train. Following the conclusion of the Mugen Train Arc, the series' second season will launch into completely new content with the start of the Entertainment District Arc, which sees Tanjiro and company teaming up with the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui to investigate a series of possibly demon-related disappearances within a large city's red-light district. The Entertainment District Arc is one of the most well-regarded story arcs from the original manga, and its anime adaptation will begin airing on Dec. 5 with an hour-long episode.
Anyone who want to catch up on the series before the premiere of Season 2 can also watch the full 26 episodes of the first season of the anime, which were already available on Funimation, Netflix and Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll also recently began to stream the English dub of the series, as well as the Mugen Train movie. Fans who want to watch Mugen Train on the big screen and missed out on the movie's record-breaking theatrical run in 2020 should look forward to New York Comic-Con, where Funimation will host a special screening of the movie with the series' English dub cast in attendance.
