Boruto: Amado’s Mysterious Game Reveals a Fresh Threat

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chapter #60 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, “A Place to Belong,” by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.

Ever since she was assigned to him, Boruto's Amado has steadily lost the faith of Sumire, who initially thought he was there to help Konoha. With Isshiki gone, Amado now plots in the shadows, working on trying to get Kawaki to take a new Karma mark, which hasn't escaped the notice of his assigned shinobi. Amado tells Kawaki that a new mark will allow him to tap into the power Isshiki left behind in his body, but Kawaki is still very clearly terrified of the prospect. Ever watchful, Sumire notices this as well and is furious.

She doesn't like how Amado is essentially going behind Naruto's back, also circumventing Shikamaru and the science chief, Katasuke. However, in Chapter #60 of the Boruto manga, as Amado tries to convince Sumire that he's doing the right thing, he reveals a new element to his schemes.

Even Sasuke knew something was up, which is why Sumire's essentially become Amado's shadow. Amado, however, declares that he's going to do everything in his power to help protect his new home. He even has the perfect ally and shinobi instrument to do so: a new vessel, kept in a container much like the one Kawaki was transported in when Isshiki's airship crashed near Konoha's borders. These cells are only used for creating devastating weapons, but it's not revealed just yet who's inside. Seeing as Amado was Isshiki's science head, he may have created another cyborg, like Code or Kawaki, or he may be in the process of reprogramming someone he stole from Kara. There's also another twisted possibility: this is a Kawaki clone.

If it's the latter, it may explain the evil Kawaki decimating Konoha from the flash-forward at the start of the Boruto series. Either way, Sumire needs to tell someone ASAP. Amado says he's already let Katasuke know about this little project, but then, Amado says a lot of things.

The reveal of the cell in Chapter #60 further proves that Amado is simply playing games with Konoha -- and he's ten steps ahead, as usual. The problem is, everyone's distracted by Code's impending assault right now, so he's been left to his own devices, which could ultimately bring death and destruction back to the Land of Fire.
