Japanese publisher Shueisha Inc announced in its manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump that a Black Clover film is in production, with a teaser trailer later confirming the news.
Based on the manga series of the same name by Yūki Tabata, the Black Clover story centers on a boy named Asta who was left at an orphanage by his mother as an infant. In the world he resides in, Clover Kingdom, everyone is born with the potential to utilize magic, but Asta is unable to do this and thus tries to gain magical ability through physical training. In contrast, his friendly rival and fellow orphan Yuno is ripe with immense magical power and has a unique talent to control wind magic. Both Yuno and Asta aspire to become the next Wizard King, which causes both youths to join a Magic Knight squad as the first step to fulfilling this ambition.
Very little is known about the Black Clover film at this time, though there is a television anime series adaptation currently being broadcast in both Japan and in the US, on both Adult Swim's Toonami block and on Funimation's streaming platform. Originally released in 2017, the series has four seasons with its final episode set to broadcast on March 30.
