Berlin’s Senate Department For Culture And Europe is running pilot events to measure the feasibility of restarting indoor events with antigen testing programmes.
As reported by Berliner Zeitung, the six-point plan presented by the association of Berlin club operator proposes pilot events with rapid testing, and a central information platform to operate as a hub with hygiene recommendations and regulations for clubs. To better understand Berlin nightlife, it will also be required for the venues to record visitor number systematically. The use of smart apps, participation in research projects and information campaigns are also expected to be implemented by all clubs and venues across the city.

Although the pilots are largely being held with cultural institutions like the Deustche Oper, Philharmoniker and the Volksbühne, a test event for clubs is being held on March 27th in the Säälchen at Holzmarkt, a multi-purpose space built on the former Bar 25 site. After the test events are complete, the Senate department will collate the data to “outline a scenario for the reopening of culture and the feasibility of events, as well as considering opportunities and risks.”
All participants in the tests purchase a ticket in advance and must pass an antigen test at a specified testing site on the day of the event, as RA reports. Upon entry, visitors present their negative test result, personalised ticket and ID card, then medical masks must be worn throughout.
