Baki: Son of Ogre’s New Season Wrestles Its Way to Netflix

A new season of Baki: Son of Ogre will begin streaming worldwide on Netflix in Fall 2021.

As reported by Crunchyroll, shortly after this announcement that the newest season of Baki would be coming to Netflix, a trailer was released, which features Baki fighting a variety of opponents, including supersized praying mantis. Most notably, the series will see Baki fight against the ogre Yujiro Hanma, the world's strongest fighter, who also happens to be Baki's father.

Baki: Son of Ogre is the fourth Baki series released on Netflix, with Season 1: Part 1, which premiered in 2018, Season 1: Part 2, and The Great Raitai Tournament Saga. Nobunaga Shimazaki will return as the voice of the lead character Baki Hanma. The release of Baki: Son of Ogre on Netflix will mark the franchise's 30-year anniversary since Keisuke Itagaki's manga Baki the Grappler was first released in Weekly Shonen Champion in 1991.

The editorial department of Weekly Shonen Champion is celebrating Baki's 30th-anniversary in September by hosting a creative contest, with open submissions for illustrations, videos, cosplays, photos and other fan art with Itagaki serving as the judge. The deadline for the contest is Aug. 31, 2021 and winners will receive prizes signed by Itagaki. According to the contest website, there are three categories for the contest: Strong, Beautiful and Strange.
