Attack on Titan Releases Epic Opening/Ending Themes Ahead of Its Conclusion

The debut of Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 is very close at hand, and the anime's new opening and ending themes have been released ahead of the premiere to get fans hyped.

Both themes are now available to watch online. While the opening theme, "The Rumbling" by SiM, is heart-pounding and dramatic with brutal visuals of Titan-on-Titan combat, the ending theme, "Akuma no Ko" ("A Child of Evil") by Ai Higuchi, has a much more philosophical tone with hopeful but melancholic imagery to match. Protagonist Eren Jaeger features heavily in both.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Hajime Isayama, the Attack on Titan anime by Wit Studio (Ranking of Kings, Great Pretender) premiered in April 2013, running for 25 episodes. In July 2019, the fourth and final season was announced and in May 2020, it was confirmed that MAPPA, the studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen, The God of High School and Banana Fish, would be taking over production of the series. Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part originally aired between December 2020 and March 2021 with 16 episodes.

The epic conclusion of Attack on Titan is set to be an emotional one as the age-old tensions between the Marleyans and Eldians threaten to bring about the war of all wars. One of the many recent trailers for Part 2 marked the dramatic end for the show by looking back at the journeys of Eren and his friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, highlighting the many challenges they overcame together, as well as the events that threaten to turn them against each other.

While the anime series is coming to an end and the manga concluded in April 2021, there are still ongoing developments for the Attack on Titan franchise. Most notably, it has been confirmed that an Attack on Titan attraction will return for Universal Cool Japan 2022. Attack on Titan XR Ride is a virtual rollercoaster that allows users to experience the intensity of a Titan attack. Moreover, Crunchyroll has made the first chapters of the manga available for free on its website.

Fans can also continue to experience the world of Attack on Titan through fanmade content like Cartoonist Fili's fan art that merges the post-apocalyptic series with the colorful world of Disney's Ratatouille and heart-wrenching works of fanfiction like Obsession With Time by Certifiedclown and The Long Way Down by Revolvermonkcelot.

Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 makes its debut on Crunchyroll on Jan. 9 at 12:45 pm Pacific Time.
