My Hero Academia is set many decades into the future, in a world where superpowered Quirks rule the day and society needs an inspiring symbol of peace to stand as a champion of the common people. For decades, the seemingly invincible All Might was that symbol, and he could vanquish evil time and again with his mighty punches.
All Might is famed for being the eighth wielder of the One For All Quirk, and one fateful day, he bestowed it upon Midoriya Izuku, his chosen successor. However, All Might is known for more than bearing One For All. There's much more to know about how he became so strong and why he looks the way he does. Fans should know more about his anatomy.
All Might Can't Drink Alcohol Anymore
Rarely are characters seen drinking alcohol in My Hero Academia, although it can be presumed that many pro heroes, and some villains, indulge in a drink now and then to unwind after a mission. But no one will invite All Might to the bar with them because All Might cannot safely drink any longer. The injury to his stomach prevents it, so he must face his inner hardships without the benefit of alcohol to take the edge off. In fact, he hardly has anything left of his stomach at all, so it would be unsafe for him to drink anything too strong, anyway.
All Might's Scar Location Was Changed For The Anime
In years past, All Might defeated his nemesis All For One but suffered a serious blow in return that left a lasting impact on his health. This scar is the reason for All Might's slow but steady decline in power, and he does his best to keep it hidden from the public. However, he did show it to Izuku when they first met early in the story, lifting his shirt to reveal the nasty wound. In the original My Hero Academia, the wound was on All Might's chest, over his ribs. The anime changed this slightly, moving his injury several inches lower to just below his ribcage and closer to his waist. It's a minor cosmetic change, but a notable one all the same. Either way, it's unclear whether the young Eri could heal this scar at all. It may be too risky to try.
All Might's Eyes Are Surprisingly Expressive
All Might's eyes are a strange part of his anatomy, and they appear in at least three different modes. In his muscle form, his eyes are shaded, which makes him look more imposing to villains and draws more attention to his smile. In his skinny and true form, All Might's eyes are nearly black, but he does have bright blue irises, which makes him more expressive and therefore more readable. This can be interpreted as All Might's strength of purpose and his vulnerable side, whereas his muscle form overshadows his eyes and true personality. In flashbacks, an adolescent Yagi Toshinori is seen with fairly normal eyes, representing his bright-eyed youth. At the time, he wasn't anyone special, and his ordinary eyes reflected that.
All Might's Muscle Form Is His Own Invention
All Might is famed for being a tall and well-muscled superhero, but this is just a facade, and it's something All Might had to invent for himself. In his boyhood, he was a fairly skinny fellow, and the same is true of his true form today. As All Might explained it, he must consciously maintain his muscle form, sort of like a person holding in their gut at the beach or pool. Notably, All Might is the only pro hero and only My Hero Academia character overall known to do anything like this. No one else has a muscle form of their own, and it may be even harder than it looks to train and obtain such a form. All Might's muscle form didn't come from One For All -- it was something he developed on his own for his own needs.
All Might Was Going To Be Older
All Might is a middle-aged fellow who is old enough to be Izuku's father, which has prompted speculation that All Might really is his father, although it seems unlikely for My Hero Academia to actually confirm that. All Might's exact age isn't entirely clear, but he's likely in his mid-40s or so, and that appears to be the ideal age for his character. He must be old enough to be a mentor and father figure to Izuku, but not so old that he's difficult to relate to. At first, author Kohei Horikoshi intended to make All Might older, but that was soon changed, and All Might gained a more youthful appearance and personality to match, which makes him more exciting as a character. Instead, the role of a wise, elderly mentor went to All Might's own teacher, Gran Torino.
