Ancient Magus’ Bride Side-Story Anime Releases New Trailer

The second part of The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze, a side-story to the popular dark fantasy slice-of-life anime series, has released a new trailer to give fans a preview of its story before the anime's release next year.

The trailer emphasizes the new release's dark tone and teases the various challenges and monsters that the characters will face. While the side-story features fan-favorite characters like Spriggan, Chise and Elias, it also focuses on a boy named Gabriel who endeavors to part the veil that hides the world of magic.

The first part of The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze premiered in Japan in September and is expected to hit Crunchyroll in December. A new animation company, Studio Kafka, is animating the side-story, taking over production duties from WIT Studio, which produced the mainline anime series.

Kazuaki Terasawa (Altair: A Record of BattlesYu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) serves as director with Aya Takaha (Psycho-PassPokémon the Movie: The Power of Us) and Yoko Yonaiyama (Uma Musume Pretty Derby) writing the script. Junichi Matsumoto (Plunderer) is composing the music, Noriko Izumo (Assassination Classroom, Hetalia - Axis Powers) is creating the sound effects and Hirotaka Katō (B: The BeginningGreat Pretender) is designing the characters.

Many members of the voice cast from the anime series have reprised their roles for The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze, including Atsumi Tanezaki (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as Chise, Ryota Takeuchi (Haikyu!! To The TopScarlet Nexus) as Elias and Hiroki Yasumoto (Boruto: Naruto Next GenerationsCased Closed) as Spriggan. Hiromi Igarashi (Log HorizonThe Garden of Sinners) joins the cast as Gabriel.

The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy From the West and the Knight of the Mountain Haze is scheduled to debut in Japan on March 10, 2022. Other anime projects that are expected to make their premiere next year include Made in Abyss: The Sun Blazes Upon the Golden City, The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of DebtSpy x FamilyMobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From MercuryLove After World Domination and the second seasons of The Case Study of Vanitas and The Rising of the Shield Hero.
