Nami and Kalifa Battle in New One Piece Illustration by Dr. Stone Artist

Dr. Stone's Boichi released new artwork depicting the characters of One Piece.

The new illustration was published in the latest issue of the Japan-only One Piece magazine and was shared online by Twitter account Shonen Jump News - Unofficial. Nami's battle with the CP9 assassin Kalifa takes center stage in the new artwork, which also features Boichi's take on several other members of the Straw Hat Pirates, including main protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, the swordsman Roronoa Zoro and the fighting chef Sanji.

Boichi, also known as Mu-jik Park, is a South Korean artist who got his start creating manhwa before he moved to Japan to become a professional manga artist. Boichi is best known for his work on the Dr. Stone manga series, which was written by Riichiro Inagaki and premiered in 2017. Dr. Stone recently concluded its five-year serialization earlier this year with the publication of the main story's final chapter, though an additional bonus chapter is set to be released later this year. The artist has also been involved with the One Piece franchise since 2020, when he was selected to create the art for the manga adaptation of One Piece novel A.

While the Dr. Stone manga has ended, fans of the series can still look forward to the anime's upcoming special, Dr. Stone: Ryusui, which will be released in Japan this summer. A third season of the anime series has also been confirmed to be in production and is currently scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023.

One Piece fans, however, are currently waiting for news about the return of the anime series, which was recently placed on an indefinite hiatus following a hacking incident targeting Toei Animation, the studio that produces the show. On March 6, an unauthorized third party accessed the company's private network, which caused a shutdown of the studio that reportedly resulted in the loss of files related to the production of several of the company's projects. In addition to One Piece, the release of new episodes of Digimon Ghost Game and the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero were also postponed, with no new release dates announced.

Fans of Eiichiro Oda's long-running pirate epic can still look forward to March 28, when the franchise is set to make some kind of big announcement. The official Twitter account for the series released a set of photographs that suggest the new reveal will probably be related to Netflix's upcoming live-action reboot, which began filming earlier this year.
