Twin Star Exorcists received an ample amount of hype when the announcement of its anime adaptation was released, boosting the series' overall popularity before the anime even came out. The series created by Yoshiaki Sukeno was first serialized as a manga under Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, and it only received an anime adaptation three years into publication.
Twin Star Exorcists is an action fantasy series that follows conventional shonen tropes, while also offering a tinge of romance, comedy, and horror. Since the first season ended in 2017, there hasn't been any official news of a second season. In the meantime, here are the official ways to get started and up to date with Twin Star Exorcists.
The Plot of Twin Star Exorcists
Twin Star Exorcists follow the story of the titular pair; Benio Adashino and Rokuro Enmadou. A parallel world of their own houses the underground realm of Magano, wherein the monstrous Kegare lurked. The Kegare preys on humans, and the only ones capable of purifying them are exorcists. Rokuro adamantly refuses to become one after experiencing an event known as the Tragedy of Hiinatsuki. But his tone changes after meeting Benio.
Benio is a young prodigy exorcist that has been summoned to Tokyo by the union. Together with Rokuro, an oracle claims them to be the fated Twin Star Exorcists. They are prophesied to be the parents of Abe no Seimei's reincarnation, who is also to be the one to rid the world of the Kegare. The two refuse to place the burden on their future child and decide to rid the world of the Kegare themselves. Inspired by Benio's will to get stronger, Rokuro once again treads the path of exorcism.
