To build hype for the upcoming premiere of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the filmmakers have released a new promotional poster that features the updated designs for fan-favorite characters Trunks, Goten and Android 18.
The image, which was revealed during the worldwide live stream event Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2022, shows teenage versions of Goten and Trunks in the final pose of the franchise's iconic fusion dance. Notably, Trunks' hair color is much bluer than normal, greatly resembling his mother's hair tone as opposed to his usual lilac shade. Android 18 balances confidently on her husband's outstretched hand in the background, wearing a cool purple and gray outfit.
While these new designs for Goten, Trunks and Android 18 are impressive, it is currently unknown how much screen time the three will have in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. As Dragon Ball series producer Akio Iyoku stated during the Toei Lineup Presentation earlier this month, "It's been almost 40 years since the start of the series but never before has there been a work with so much heart. This time, the story is centered around the master-disciple duo of Gohan and Piccolo."
Fans of Dragon Ball have more to be excited about than just the movie's fast-approaching debut. A new set of collectible mini-prints that showcase several of the long-running franchise's most memorable moments will reportedly appear in Bandai's next wave of official shikishi boards. Included in the set are an image of Goku and a young Gohan soaring happily on the Flying Nimbus, and portraits of Broly and Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta.
Moreover, the Dragon Ball Super Gallery Project, an initiative by publisher Shueisha that celebrates the upcoming 40th anniversary of the original manga's debut in 1984, continues to produce stunning artwork. Many popular and experienced mangaka -- including Sket Dance's Kenta Shinohara and Naruto's Masashi Kishimoto -- have reimagined Akira Toriyama's cover art in their own styles.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero hits theaters in Japan on April 22.
