JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: 10 Best Strategies in Stone Ocean, Ranked

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's focus on strategic battles is of the main reasons fans love the series. JoJo's fights often revolve around two Stand users teasing out their opponents' weaknesses and then using their own strengths to exploit those flaws.

Some JoJo's fights are decided by dumb luck, which speaks to the series theme that the Joestar family is Fate-blessed. This theme is most explicit in the sixth part of JoJo's, Stone Ocean, in which Enrico Pucci creates a world where all people can be at peace with their ultimate. But even in Stone Ocean, most battles showcase strong strategic elements from both heroes and villains.

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!

10 Jolyne Sets Herself Ablaze To Thwart Rikiel

Jolyne sets herself on fire.

Rikiel's Stand, Sky High, is based on the urban legend of "rods" — tiny shapes reportedly captured in photographs but invisible to the naked eye. In Stone Ocean, these rods are tiny, insect-like creatures that can drain the heat from enemies' body parts, causing that portion of the body to shut down and rot within moments.

Upon realizing this, protagonist Jolyne Cujoh sets herself on fire so the rods cannot reach her brain and kill her. While an extreme and destructive strategy, this measure keeps Jolyne alive long enough to defeat her enemy.

9 Anasui Turns Kenzou's Legs Into Springs

Kenzou looms over Foo Fighters.

Kenzou wields Dragon's Dream, a Stand that's as incomprehensible to most readers as it is invincible. Dragon's Dream shows combatants (including Kenzou's opponents) "lucky" and "unlucky" places to stand. Those who occupy the right spots can dodge any attack leveled against them.

After a long battle, Anasui stores the leg of his Stand, Diver Down, in Jolyne's body. When Kenzou kicks her, Diver Down rearranges Kenzou's leg bones into springs. Because of Anasui's quick thinking, Kenzou cannot remain in the battlefield's lucky spots and is soon incapacitated.

8 Westwood Trains In Wrestling To Exploit Planet Waves

Two meteoroids approach Jolyne Cujoh.

Westwood's Stand, Planet Waves, pulls meteoroids down from Earth's orbit toward its user. Although it's weaker than other Stands that simply summon weapons or have special effects, Planet Waves still packs enough destructive power to rip chunks from a victim's body.

To maximize this effect, Westwood trains in wrestling. He uses these grappling techniques to immobilize his victims, forcing them into the path of any meteoroid which streaks toward Westwood's own position. The meteoroids disintegrate before touching Westwood himself, so this strategy puts the user in no danger.

7 Ermes Uses Her Head To Track Sports Maxx

Ermes hides behind a wall.

Taking revenge on her sister's killer, Sports Maxx, is the entire reason Ermes is even in Green Dolphin Street Prison. Ermes quickly kills Maxx, but his Stand allows him to persist as an invisible zombie after death.

Unable to locate Sports Maxx as he taunts her from his severed head, Ermes uses her Stand, Kiss, to create a second head which Maxx bites and swallows. Ermes activates Kiss' second ability, which causes her swallowed flesh to tear out of Maxx's stomach, revealing the zombie's location in a spray of blood.

6 Weather Report Invents A Superhero

Weather Report and Van Gogh look at a paintbrush.

The fight against Ungalo's Stand, Bohemian Rhapsody, is one of the most iconic in Stone Ocean. This Stand causes fictional characters to come to life and trap people across the entire planet in the "fates" of their storybook endings.

Weather Report exploits the universal power of Bohemian Rhapsody by forcing an awakened portrait of Van Gogh to design a new superhero who has the ability to return fictional characters back to where they came from.

5 Yo-Yo Ma Plays Innocent With His Victims

The Stand Yo-Yo Ma is defeated in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

D and G's Yo-Yo Ma is one of the more unique Stands in JoJo's history. Yo-Yo Ma appears truly indestructible and eager to give his victims a helping hand. This Stand guides Jolyne and her allies through the swamp, contentedly surviving a severe beating from Jolyne's Stone Free without a scratch.

The moment Yo-Yo Ma determines a victim has lowered their guard, it attacks them with a moderately destructive acid. Although it's hardly the most powerful Stand in Stone Ocean, its charming strategy is difficult to overcome without killing D and G himself.

4 Miraschon's Opponents Dig Their Own Graves

When Jolyne first encounters Miraschon, the latter bets that Jolyne's allies can't catch a ball many times in a row. Jolyne suspects this bet involves a Stand power, and refuses to escalate the wager after winning her initial bet.

Ermes, however, accepts a new bet and soon cheats to avoid losing. This reveals Miraschon's cunning strategy: she exploits her opponents' greed. Miraschon's Stand, Marilyn Manson, can only act to attack and punish cheaters. This Stand coldly rips possessions and body parts from its victims until their debts have been paid.

3 Jail House Lock Neutralizes Escape Plans

Green Dolphin Street Prison's main line of defense against escape attempts is Miu Miu's Stand, Jail House Lock. This Stand activates whenever an inmate touches the walls beyond the prison's visiting chambers, indicating an escape in progress.

Jail House Lock suppresses a target's short-term memory, making them capable of only remembering the three most recent things they have seen. This power is perfect for disrupting complex escape plans. Jail House Lock effectively bewilders inmates and makes them easy targets for nearby guards.

2 Jolyne Turns Herself Into a Möbius Strip

Explanation of a mobius strip and a trumpet.

C-Moon is the second form of Pucci's Stand in Stone Ocean. Although nowhere near as powerful as the universe-rewriting Made In Heaven, C-Moon's control over gravity and power to invert surfaces makes it one of the most deadly Stands in JoJo's history.

Considering C-Moon's terrifying power, it's incredibly impressive when Jolyne, having only moments to save herself from death, uses her own Stone Free to prevent C-Moon from inverting her heart and killing her. Jolyne turns herself into a Möbius strip, a one-sided surface that's immune to C-Moon's scariest power.

1 Emporio Tricks Pucci Into Rewriting Fate

Emporio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean screaming in fear

In the final chapters of Stone Ocean, Pucci's plan to achieve Heaven is nearly complete. He has reset the universe and created a world where all people know every event that will transpire in their lives. Only he, Pucci, is free of Fate's boundaries. All that remains is killing Emporio, who must die at Pucci's hands.

However, Emporio knows Pucci is outside of Fate. He tricks the priest to attack him with Made In Heaven, punching Weather Report's Stand disk into his head. Made In Heaven's action alters fate, allowing Emporio to kill Pucci and create a better world where Pucci never existed.
