Attack on Titan: The Beast Titan Proves It’s the Most Dangerous of All

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Attack on Titan Season 4, Episode 18, "Sneak Attack," now streaming on Funimation, Hulu and Crunchyroll.

Few characters in Attack on Titan can create the amount of carnage that Zeke Jaeger's Beast Titan did in Season 4, Episode 18, "Sneak Attack." As the battle between Marley and Paradis Island raged on, with Eren and the Jaegerists being all but slaughtered, the sudden return of the Beast Titan turned everything on its collective head. It's the Jaeger brothers against the world now, and the elder sibling just reminded everyone who holds the title of most dangerous Titan. The Beast Titan's deadliest abilities are proof that the power of a Titan lies with its wielder, and Zeke's gifts have him turning the tide of an entire war.

Eren Jaeger famously wields three Titans -- the Founding, Attack and War Hammer -- but the Founding's power is out of his reach and the War Hammer quickly exhausts him. As a result, it's all Eren can do to stay alive when ganged up on by Reiner, Galliard and Pieck. Zeke, on the other hand, is so gifted with his own Titan that he's a one-man army, making more progress against Marley in seconds than Eren has in the entire fight so far. But what exactly makes Zeke's Beast Titan so powerful?

Zeke Jaeger formed a bond with the previous inheritor of the Beast Titan, Tom Ksaver, and the two liked to spend their days playing catch. Zeke is so skilled at throwing a baseball with force and accuracy that his talent has carried over into war. This Beast Titan has a long history throughout Attack on Titan of pelting his enemies with boulders and crushed stones, allowing him to wipe out entire armies from a safe distance. When Zeke arrived in Shiganshina he quickly utilized this skill to obliterate Marley's airships, eliminating their biggest advantage over the less technologically advanced military of Paradis Island.

The Beast Titan even made more headway against Reiner and Galliard than Eren did, swiss-cheesing his former comrades with stones to keep them from pursuing his little brother. Although Pieck and Magath got the better of Zeke with their clever ruse of faking the Cart Titan's death, the Beast Titan is far from being out of the fight even as he plummeted to the ground inside Shiganshina. Critically wounded and clinging to his life, Zeke's Beast Titan still fills the enemy with terror thanks to his ability to turn people infected with his spinal fluid into mindless Titans.

As a descendant of the Fritz family -- the original holders of the Founding Titan and the only ones who can wield its power -- Zeke's royal bloodline gives his Beast Titan greater powers than it would have in the hands of another. The most famous of these is his ability to scream and turn people into mindless Titans after they've ingested his spinal fluid. How he discovered this power in the first place is a mystery, but he's used it to devastating effect several times in Attack on Titan. The rush to kill Zeke before he screams is on now that he's back in Shiganshina and surrounded by the rest of Paradis Island's soldiers who drank Marley's infected wine.

Zeke Jaeger's Beast Titan is a force of nature that has even inspired godlike worship from people like Yelena. As the Attack, Armored, Jaw and Cart Titans all grappled on the streets with each struggling to gain the upper hand, the Beast Titan showed up and ended the fighting in an instant. In terms of impact on the battle, the Beast Titan has either saved the day or doomed everyone, depending on which side they're on. As the key to unlocking the Founding Titan's power -- which may change (or destroy) the entire world -- Zeke Jaeger's Beast Titan is now the most important character in Attack on Titan.
