My Hero Ultra Impact, a new My Hero Academia mobile game, kicked off its pre-registration period with the release of a new trailer.
My Hero Ultra Impact is a new RPG that lets fans pick three of their favorite MHA heroes or villains and drop them into team-based battles. Players can now pre-register for the free-to-play game through the iOS App Store or through Google Play. Anyone who pre-registers will be given a bonus of gems, the in-game currency that can be used to unlock new characters. The gem bonus will rise depending on the total amount of players who take part in the pre-reg campaign. Publisher Bandai Namco released a new trailer for the game, which offers a look at the game's turn-based combat and its roster of playable characters.
My Hero Ultra Impact originally launched in Japan in May of 2021. The game's English release will feature all of the content updates that were added to the Japanese game since its launch. The game features a story mode that will allow players to relive key events from the MHA anime and manga. In addition to letting players customize their team of heroes or villains, the game also features home base customization, so users can recreate famous locations from the series, such as U.A. High School, or create their own original base of operations. In addition to its single player campaign, the mobile RPG will feature PVP multiplayer so fans can pit their teams against other players' squads.
The game should sate fans' appetite for super-powered combat until Season 6 of the My Hero Academia anime premieres later this year. The next season of the shonen anime should see plenty of Quirk-fueled brawls, as it will adapt the manga's Paranormal Liberation War arc, which sees the world's villains engaging in an all-out war against Japan's pro heroes and U.A. High students. Season 6 of the anime is scheduled to premiere sometime in the fall of 2022.
My Hero Academia remains one of the most popular shonen manga and anime franchises in the world. Kohei Horikoshi's ode to superheroes has a circulation of over 50 million copies worldwide, with 7 million of those copies being sold in 2021 alone. The latest movie in franchise, World Heroes' Mission, easily outperformed its prequels at the box office and set a new franchise record. Despite the series' on-going popularity, Horikoshi announced at this year's Jump Festa that he expects to conclude the series before the end of 2022, barring any unexpected delays or hiatuses.
