Yostar's popular tactical RPG/tower defense mobile game, Arknights, is receiving an anime adaptation.
A trailer has been uploaded to the game's official YouTube channel, giving viewers a preview of what the new series has in store. As of now, no information has been released about the anime's creative team or voice cast.
Developed by Hyperglyph, Arknights was originally released in China on May 1, 2019, and worldwide on Jan. 16, 2020. The game takes place on the dystopian, post-apocalyptic planet Terra, where society is ravaged by a deadly disease called Oripathy. The player assumes the role of an amnesiac doctor who leads a team trying to find a cure. Upon release, Arknights quickly gained a passionate fan following and received positive reviews from critics. It was also nominated for "Users' Choice Game" at Google Play's Best of 2020 awards and "Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Mobile Game" at the 2020 Dragon Awards.
Currently, no release window has been set for the anime adaptation. However, several other series are scheduled to premiere next year, including Girls' Frontline, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Orient, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, The Executioner and Her Way of Life and Love After World Domination.
The Arknights mobile game is available to play on iOS and Android.
